scott you could probably make a living by offering random pick samplers for $10 a pop

鬼の手 (Edward III), Sunday, 19 July 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

I've been eying that mekong delta tape - at first I thought it was some world music release but turns out it's a weirdo concept album by a german thrash metal group??

鬼の手 (Edward III), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:19 (sixteen years ago)

lord tracy - deaf gods of babylon

^ always wanted to hear that

the alcoholiks 21 & up is just plain good though but maybe not as intriguing given the list

from an amazon review of deaf gods of babylon

Shes a bitch is a perfect song if your ex wife (like mine) is a real big bitch. The chorus consists of the men in the band shouting Shes A Bitch.

鬼の手 (Edward III), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:27 (sixteen years ago)

yeah as far as "which one can I actually vouch is a good record" I'd say the Alkaholiks. what I've heard off the David Banner was pretty good too

I don't know the names of many riddims but Mamacita could turn out to be solid

dmr, Monday, 20 July 2009 23:32 (sixteen years ago)

alkaholiks is the only one i've heard + listen to regularly

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:34 (sixteen years ago)

vouching for good records seems overly restrictive, you can also vote for which one you want to hear most or which has yr favorite album title or which you think would be the funniest for me to be listening to

鬼の手 (Edward III), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:38 (sixteen years ago)

whatever wins, I will attempt to write a review in the style of either r christgau or r crumb

鬼の手 (Edward III), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:39 (sixteen years ago)

i think i have that BBD remix tape in my car. or did for a long time.

jaxoff (jaxon), Monday, 20 July 2009 23:42 (sixteen years ago)

I'm voting for Mekong Delta, because that's the first one I'd listen to, since I've always wanted to hear those guys ever since Martin Popoff compared them to Voivod once. (The Lord Tracy, Britny Fox, April Wine and Banner are worth hearing though!)

Also, I am still working through the vinyl pile Scott sent me...

xhuxk, Monday, 20 July 2009 23:44 (sixteen years ago)

I've got that Mekong Delta LP but haven't played it since '91 or thereabouts - nutty prog-thrash that shifts gears every nanosecond. "Makes Voivod look like AC/DC", I proclaimed at the time, or maybe just read it. (I definitely remember a review prompting me to buy it...)
