I love that Fresh & Onlys album!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

okay, i'll play that first.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 16:46 (sixteen years ago)

I'm playing it!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)

Not bad so far. I like guitars.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

the fresh & onlys is the only i've heard (or heard of). keyboards and girl(s?)'s background vocals aren't so bad

kamerad, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:01 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, not bad, but i'm getting bored. i guess i'll have to pick another one at random. well, here goes nothing...

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)

okay i'm putting the panda album on. i'm a little scared...

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

um, okay, i'll try something else. maybe the three named guy...

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:10 (sixteen years ago)

wow. okay. tartufi it is!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:11 (sixteen years ago)

awwww, oh well. i have high hopes for sea sick though!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

r.i.p. brooklyn. hey, maybe this label comp will be fun. it's from italy! they're funny there!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:20 (sixteen years ago)

Sea Sick isn't Seasick, the hardcore band from New Jersey, is it?

"lol" as frivolity (Stevie D), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:24 (sixteen years ago)

that Italian label sampler was not very good. It's up to I Learn Everything On TV to bring home the bacon!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

no, sea sick is someone's girlfriend and some guy and some other guy. probably.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

if someone ever tries to play I Learn Everything On TV for you, punch them in the face. Repeatedly.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

I saw Tartufi on Monday. Lots of analogue gear and loop pedals and scurrying between instruments. It was OK but they took about a century to set up and I felt them less as a result, I think

ha ha ha A++++

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:33 (sixteen years ago)

well, thanks everyone! that was fun. thanks for all your help. I'm looking at you, Johnny!

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:34 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, I saw Tartufi last night - I'm guessing, in that case, that they're second support on the Marnie Stern/Nissennenmondai tour? They were... they had the odd moment, but I just couldn't get into them (the other two were ace, mind)

It's Not Fair And I Think You're Robbie Keane (William Bloody Swygart), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

Daniel Francis Doyle (scared...of...three...names...bet...he...has...sad...beard...)

I saw this guy last year and he's pretty awesome live (also didn't have a beard, at least at the time) -- basically plays guitar parts, then loops them, and plays drums and sings at the same time over the loops, and his songs are kind of spazzy and disjointed but still kind of pop. The album loses something in translation since you don't get the full effect of seeing him create the tracks in real time, but it's still good.

some dude, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:37 (sixteen years ago)

the girlfriend in tartufi is pretty bad. as a singer. i guess the music isn't so bad? i dunno, i couldn't listen for long. she's about as bad vocally as daniel doyle. though i don't doubt that he could be better live. okay, i doubt it a little.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

the deerhoof fan in the panda band is in a league of her own vocally though.

scott seward, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 17:51 (sixteen years ago)

yeah not real into his voice on record either, although i don't know if it was better live or if i was just less bothered by it.

that panda lark is some nails-down-blackboard shit

braveclub, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 20:20 (sixteen years ago)

fuck you, death sentence: panda totally rule!

Francis, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

WBS - yeah they are supporting Marnie Stern - I don't think Nisennenmondai are an actual tour support as they didn't visit my manor but I'm seeing them at the weekend and am actually pretty dorkishly excited

Pissed Jenas (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

I kind of wish some critic with too much to listen to would outsource some of it to me - I'd do it for free and it'd be so much fun.

braveclub, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 20:27 (sixteen years ago)

what's the sea sick cd like??

more posts that will never be released (electricsound), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 22:53 (sixteen years ago)

I just saw 'em last night and am still pretty dorkishly excited! Epic long set too I think, since the soundguy tried to turn the lights on halfway through, and they just kept on going for another half hour. Maybe I should dig out the actual Nisennenmondai thread (I assume there is one) but you know how it is when on the bus home you think you have 6000 things to say about a gig and then the next day they're all gone.

Back on topic, I remember thinking a previous release by Death Sentence: Panda was pretty awesome hyperactive fun, though I've missed at least one since and haven't heard the new one yet.
