Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey

a nonsense pastiche, but the best hook of the album

Not only is "Back seat of my car" the best song on this album, it's one of the best things he's ever done!

And it's the first single by PMac to flop! (no 37, I believe)

"Back Seat Of My Car" for me. Although I love "Too Many People" too - one of Paul's better powerpop numbers.

Well, there you go, we agree.

This is my favorite album involving a Beatle (including the Beatles' albums) and I'm kind of in awe of the way Paul's stoner flights-of-fancy are so much more original than most people's stoner flights of fancy. For all that people talk about various albums being "McCartney-esque" I've never heard anything that sounds remotely like Ram's sloppy brilliance.

I think I'm going to give it to Smile Away for the weirdo backing vocals, insistent synth(?) bass, and especially for the whole "Aaah-eye-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-bum-bum" bit as it pulls out of the mellow bit and revs back up again. He sounds like he's having a blast throughout.

Lots of great songs on this one, but like most of his 70s work, I find that there is a thing or two to be desired on the production front. Paul McCartney producing himself has never been a good idea.

"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", because only Macca could pull that shit off.

I kind of think Macca's sloppy brilliance owes a lot to the Beach Boys' Smiley Smile, Wild Honey and Friends.

I do agree for most of his 70s records, but I dont't really get it for that one. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

I'm voting for Ram On, I love Macca when he's bittersweet.

"Eat At Home" is great for the way that his voice fuses with Linda's. It gets my vote.

I read that as "fusses" and it made even more sense.

Went with "Admiral Halsey" just for the "hands across the water" thing.

Too many great songs on here, and too many great little details to love and treasure. I second all the posts of praise above and when I have time maybe I'll come back and babble out some more. Great record.
