oh cmon, Bohannon's Disco Symphony is great.

gonna be a long hot summer for the MS Word paperclip (the table is the table), Friday, 31 July 2009 22:41 (fifteen years ago)

but yeah, that isn't his best. the one that i find the most...uninteresting, perhaps, is the self-titled one, which also has an excellent cover.

whoa im jamming that now, and i love it!

the second side is a lil snoozy, but kind of in a nice way?

On My Way, for having two epic classics, "Maybe You Can Dance" and "I Got to Stay Funky"

Really interested to see the results here, I keep meaning to check him out because of "let's start the dance" but ive got no idea where to start

vain_bowers, Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

I've only heard Dance Your Ass Off, which is incredible.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

i went with keep on dancin'. it's the one i have played the most. i just love it so much. and "dance with your parno" might be my fave Bohannon song.

i could easily vote for dance your ass off and insides out too though.

South African Man isn't an album. it's a single. it's on keep on dancin'. unless there was some euro album with that title.

and gittin' off isn't on this poll! that's a great album too. and one that i need on vinyl.

three months pass...

btw, wtf @ the seeming dearth of critical opinion on bohannon records? like, this dude made 500 great albums, and no one has really devoted a lot of effort to unpacking their content??

just got three more this past week -- on my way, too hot to hold, and one step ahead. so far, still unbeatable.

69, Wednesday, 18 November 2009 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

too hot to hold is a real gem in my book

pretzel walrus, Wednesday, 18 November 2009 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, he's fun to collect because there is so much to collect and pretty much all of them have something good to great on them.

matt2, Wednesday, 18 November 2009 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

i listened to bohannon today. listened to gittin off.

ian, Thursday, 19 November 2009 07:24 (fifteen years ago)

I only have Insides Out, Phase II and Summertime Groove. Out of those I would have gone for Summertime Groove by quite a long way. I didn't like the second side of Insides Out so much. I really liked Phase II but I think I'm influenced by just how much I love the artwork.

Are there any plans to reissue all his albums? they are pretty hard to track down.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 19 November 2009 10:38 (fifteen years ago)

I reckon I missed this poll because of its stupid title. I would say my favourite is "Keep On Dancin'", followed by "Stop and Go", but I haven't heard any of the 80s albums, so I'm no expert. Oh and "Dance Your Ass Off" is probably my least favourite!

I Poxy the Fule (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 November 2009 10:42 (fifteen years ago)

I have to be honest I clicked on this thread thinking it might be a Divine Comedy poll.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 19 November 2009 15:03 (fifteen years ago)
