Pop songs with lyrics about getting extremely drunk c/d?

Lady Gaga's "Just Dance", Ciara's "I Don't Remember"--what else? Is this trend a new one, or have I just been overlooking it for a while?

On the one hand I suppose it could be seen as refreshing. Surm and I were discussing it and he mentioned that it has a certain "human interest factor"; it's something realistic and relatable and not about a boyfriend/girlfriend/love interest

On the other hand, while I hate to get all mom brigade-y, it seems a bit socially irresponsible to glorify such things to a somewhat impressionable audience. I know pop music hasn't been wholesome for quite some time, but lyrics about getting so drunk that you black out and can't remember anything and throwing it at a bunch of tweens can't be helping anyone.

The Dubliners - "7 Drunken Nights"

I mean the Dubliners collab for a start was not mostly bought by tragic aging Mohicans.

As far as the "fucking with impressionable tweens" argument goes that's an interesting question. On one level I feel like 21st Century culture is a big ball of hyper-capitalist consume and debauch and get braindead bullshit but on the other hand culture is never swallowed passively plus the entire history of pop music is "adult" messages gleefully consumed by kids.

this is the glorious logical conclusion of the current trend. it's like someone looked at the pussycat dolls and thought they just weren't skanky enough. it's amazing.

i'm not sure if that ciara joint fits here, hazily regretful morning-after hangover songs are pretty common surely? though uh the only other one i can think of right now is tweet's 'drunk', which is also great.

oh and duhhh electrik red's incredible 'drink in my cup' definitely fits on this thread! it perfectly captures that moment in the club when you have no idea who, what, where, anything, just totally wasted. i've had some amazing dancefloor moments to it lately. CUP, CUP, SIP, SIP, YUP, YUP, YURRR! TWO, TWO, STEP, STEP, STOP, STOP HYURRR!

Sia - "Drink to get drunk" - I don't know why I smoke, but I drink to get drunk

Britney's "Blur" is a morning-after song, like Ciara's "I Don't Remember." She doesn't specify that she was drunk, though. She could have been on drugs.

The verse of the theme from CSI, though I guess the chorus is about identifying criminals.

'stop me if you think that you've heard this one before'

though there doesn't seem to be too much excessive boozing going on. more like a lightweight getting extremely drunk.
