they play lots of good & kinda diverse shit. things that are popular but not crushingly so. just had a cool lil run of new songs by friendly fires, green day, new boyz, shakira & fall out boy
good background music for insomniacs
font is cool too

it's like it's programmed by someone who actually pays attention to music and is kind of creative!

i do like amtv quite a bit when i have the time to watch it
― teledyldonix, Friday, 5 November 2010 19:43 (thirteen years ago) link
and yes it is a bit like the mtv subgenre channels, mtv jams and mtv hits and such
― teledyldonix, Friday, 5 November 2010 19:45 (thirteen years ago) link
i like mtv jams tho it pisses me off that they don't do track IDS for songs a lot of times

amtv has been playing random 90's stuff lately.. I saw "Juicy" the other night, and "Longview" the night before that.. no explanation.
― billstevejim, Saturday, 6 November 2010 06:53 (thirteen years ago) link
cause those are well-loved songs by artists who remain very popular?
― kkkvagz (The Reverend), Saturday, 6 November 2010 08:11 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah that makes perfect sense, and they're hugely welcomed but I find it unusual for mtv to play anything other than new music rotation unless its part of a "90s" block or part of some themed specialty show.
― billstevejim, Sunday, 7 November 2010 00:51 (thirteen years ago) link
yeah popular old videos has always been part of the AMTV steez, which is the one thing that it has on MTV Hits etc., which are what i channel surf to constantly

why the hell is mtv jams playing four red cafe videos in a row? i mean "paper touchin'" is a classic tho and this "i'm ill" song is kinda dope but...

― blogosfeer of a black planet (J0rdan S.), Friday, 19 November 2010 09:51 (thirteen years ago) link
hahahah the last half of that video is CLASSIC. completely shameless.

i remember reading about how late '90s boy bands would intentionally make mega-homoerotic videos until they grabbed that female fanbase, just in case they wound up having to settle for a male one. which is why the ladies show up in "as long as you love me."
― da croupier, Friday, 19 November 2010 19:02 (thirteen years ago) link
That's kinda really creepy but Lou pearlmen was involved...
It also makes sense if he just wanted to see bsb dripping wet for 2:30
― blogosfeer of a black planet (J0rdan S.), Friday, 19 November 2010 19:06 (thirteen years ago) link
lol where have I been and why didn't I know about Pearlman's Ponzi scheme until now

― da croupier, Friday, 19 November 2010 19:15 (thirteen years ago) link
according to wikipedia that was their first video, too...later ones on youtubes feature female foils.
