they play lots of good & kinda diverse shit. things that are popular but not crushingly so. just had a cool lil run of new songs by friendly fires, green day, new boyz, shakira & fall out boy

i do like amtv quite a bit when i have the time to watch it

Yeah that makes perfect sense, and they're hugely welcomed but I find it unusual for mtv to play anything other than new music rotation unless its part of a "90s" block or part of some themed specialty show.

yeah popular old videos has always been part of the AMTV steez, which is the one thing that it has on MTV Hits etc., which are what i channel surf to constantly
