there is a more synth-italo version in English called "Love on the Rocks" by Lama. Both of these are covers of an older italian pop song I think?
― dan selzer, Sunday, 9 August 2009 06:23 (sixteen years ago)
Which ones?

OK I get it, nevermind.

I'm cheating a bit on this one cause the better-known version of it is in English, but whatever:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku-DUGDWRfY&feature=PlayList&p=92E09F9BDA1E0FF8&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4

Probably... sounds pre Italo to me. More like mid-70's funky-disco?

The original is 76, so it's italian disco, and not technically italo, but I consider most of that stuff italo anyway. I'd rather grant all the original/influential disco stuff italo then focus on all the pop crap of the mid 80s that's most often associated with the description.
― dan selzer, Sunday, 9 August 2009 06:57 (sixteen years ago)
I cannot think of a single italo influenced french pop track that isn't completely atrocious. There must be a few ones that aren't that bad tho.

mid 80's on ZYX, so it should count, right?

Yes it's actually a good one (written by Christophe BTW). But if you had been a teenager in France in the mid 80s like me, you would have been reluctant to post it. That song was like everywhere for a few months, and well eternally be associated in my head with crappy camping nightclubs.

the Corynne Charby is not bad at all, but lol at the idea of a pretty girl spending the evening alone in a bowling alley

dan, definitely hip yourself to luccio batisti. such a bro. that is the original. his 70s albums are so rad. he's like an italian tim buckley. or i guess as i said on this thread, Nascimento and Franco Battiato.Lucio Battisti

how's this for one of the creepiest unofficial videos ever made for a song?

there was an even creepier one with a heavy set lesbian in leather whipping a riding whip for the entire video, but it looks like it's been taken off youtube.

I have a request for you. For some strange reason, my browser crashes when it tries to load a thread with too many embedded youtube videos on it. The only way I've found to partially solve the problem is to disable the flash plugin before clicking on the thread. But then I don't get to see the links, I can only see text. Could you, from now on, write down the artist and song titles of the videos you post on this thread. Hope you don't mind :) Thanks. Or does anyone know a better way around this?

It's not about the browser (I'm using the latest version of firefox BTW), It's something about the configuration of my PC at work which I can't change (not the admin). I'm pretty sure there's no way I can't prevent the crash (it's not my own computer that I'm using), I was just asking if anyone knows a way to disable flash and still see the links.

Yeah I remember that one (maybe another version) was on a Quebec 80s pop compilation? Pretty good stuff in there. Anyone remember the name?
― Y tú, y tú, dime lo que bailas! (daavid), Monday, 10 August 2009 21:57 (sixteen years ago)
Quebectronique 80. There's some great songs on there like "Talk About It" by Belgazou, "Call Girl" by Nanette Workman and "Pied De Poule" by Dolbie Stereo.

I love 'Petit Train' but wouldn't really put it in italo. tbh I think I have no idea what constitutes italo. I think this would qualify tho:
