for the past few months every time i listen to a traditional pop/jazz vocal type station on last fm for any length of time they start sprinkling in these godawful 'verve remixes' (and banning songs doesn't really help like it does on pandora). soooooo anyway...no lie i was about to post a much more negative version of this question about 15 minutes ago and what do you know they just gave me one that's really ace (betty carter - naima's love song [dj spinna remix]). i've only heard bits of the madlib stuff, didn't really make an impression i guess... any others worth hearing?

the one verve remix that i love is hugh masekela - mama (metro area rmx)

there's a whole album of madlib blue note remixes, called 'shades of blue.' it's pretty good in spots, as i remember.

whoa i just saw that there's a carl craig remix of dorothy ashby on one of those verve comps! that has to be good. and he's done one for hugh masekela too.

^^yes the masekela one is faaaaaaaaaantastic. maybe less heard than all the '06-07 remixes he was popping out but ranks with the best of them, i say.

Wonder how often with these things remixers are given access to multi-track tapes.
