honestly any given track there could be my legit answer except for two.

added 'electrik city' b/c it's so incredible and should've been on the album, and anyone unaware of it needs it in their lives like now.

also i just need to say that the chord change on 'bed rest' is SLAYING me today - sexiest chord change everrrr

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:15 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, don't. There's no way I can choose.

Comes down to So Good vs. WFY vs. Freaky Freaky vs. oh god the whole thing is so good.

hüzün (Masonic Boom), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:16 (sixteen years ago)

You have a copy with "Electrik City" on it? It was released 3 years ago on a different label.

kenan & keller (The Reverend), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:16 (sixteen years ago)

oh that was an xp

kenan & keller (The Reverend), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:16 (sixteen years ago)

'electrik city' was actually released? thought it was just a leaked demo! it's astonishing regardless, that swelling bass and those whispers and those lyrics...

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:17 (sixteen years ago)

"freaky freaky" cuz it splits the difference between club track & bedroom track, also cuz it sounds like 90s timbaland imo

crutboard dudes get subway, totally (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:18 (sixteen years ago)

fav club track: "we fuck you"
fav bedroom track: "go shawty" (generally underrated amongst e-red stans imo)

Video and everything. They apparently had a Darkchild-produced false start a few years back.

kenan & keller (The Reverend), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

Anyway, this needs more thought.

kenan & keller (The Reverend), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

if i could vote for best moment i might pick in "friend lover" when she sings "but i gotta be at work by niiiiIIIINE"

crutboard dudes get subway, totally (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:21 (sixteen years ago)

we should poll best bridge on the album also

crutboard dudes get subway, totally (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:22 (sixteen years ago)

the way the synths burst out on the 'freaky freaky' chorus turns an already-huge production into something impossibly massive and generous

binkie's rap on 'muah' might well be my favourite single verse on the album - "i'm not a ditz, i got a brain / you saw my tittays before you see my face / it's all good, nigga don't be shamed / cuz i would feel the same". also 'muah' as in MOI.

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:22 (sixteen years ago)

i considered polling best lyric, or just best moment, on the album - every song has like 5

rule 1: no pop-pop-popping up unannounced

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:23 (sixteen years ago)

we would have to do a ballot poll for best moment

crutboard dudes get subway, totally (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:26 (sixteen years ago)

and not even i think we are big enough nerds for that

crutboard dudes get subway, totally (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:26 (sixteen years ago)

it would literally involve transcribing every lyric of the album, and 90% of the sounds and chord changes

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:27 (sixteen years ago)

'electrik city' video is terrific

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 10:32 (sixteen years ago)

yes

Bed Rest probably still my pick, feels like one of the more novel tracks and i dunno maybe i prefer the relative subtlety

unban dictionary (blueski), Monday, 10 August 2009 10:41 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah too hard to choose. My "i'm gonna claim this is underrated even though it probably isn't" track is "9 to 5".

Tim F, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:02 (sixteen years ago)

After many, many listens, the excitement has definitely worn off. I'd be perfectly content with an EP containing "Freaky Freaky," "Friend Lover," and "P Is For Power." But it certainly made a deeper impression than The-Dream's second album which still hasn't sunk in.

"Freaky Freaky" is most impressive for how it makes hay of distinctions between fast and slow. But I return to the fast fast "Friend Lover" most often so that. I just love the beat takes a quick gulp before every other measure. Also how it sounds like this machine that threatens to outrace the gals. Also how it sounds like Prince in hyper, nerve-wracked mode.

Kevin John Bozelka, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:11 (sixteen years ago)

I just love HOW....

Kevin John Bozelka, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:12 (sixteen years ago)

this could be anything up to "on point," not including "WFY." way too hard

we make rub' dongs from 4" to 6" (k3vin k.), Monday, 10 August 2009 11:16 (sixteen years ago)

"P Is For Power" is probably my least favourite track actually, or in the bottom rung at any rate.

Tim F, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:20 (sixteen years ago)

i really like 'p is for power' but 'on point' is the better version of it really

think i might vote for 'drink in my cup'...

lex pretend, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:24 (sixteen years ago)

P Is For Power has that awesome playground chant feel to it though, On Point is a lot more in your face - they're not especially similar.

I've also found myself wondering if On Point is meant to sound a bit like Lapdance but dismissed this as coincidence.

Matt DC, Monday, 10 August 2009 11:28 (sixteen years ago)

After many, many listens, the excitement has definitely worn off.

^^^^ this. I picked "So Good."

Listening to this album again after a few weeks, I still adore it, but I've totally switched which songs I love. It might be Bed Rest now.

Or I might just close my eyes and click randomly.

hüzün (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

Still love the chorus on WFY but the rest of the song isn't quite as amazing. Maybe. OH I CAN'T DECIDE.

hüzün (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 16:50 (sixteen years ago)

after a couple of weeks off, my electrik red love has gone into serious overdrive this week. i assumed '9 to 5' was the only song not in contention for me here...and then yesterday it just CLICKED.

lex pretend, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)

so good immediately leaped out as the best one to me and that hasn't changed!

Arms and the SBan (goole), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)

bed rest, friend lover, 9 to 5 all amazing but yeah, so good has something extra

Arms and the SBan (goole), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

So hard to pick between Friend Lover, Freaky Freaky and Drink In My Cup... Or Muah or 9 To 5 maybe...

Gavin in Leeds, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:08 (sixteen years ago)

i don't know that this album really warrants a poll, it's too fluid!

I love rainbow cookies (surm), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:17 (sixteen years ago)

"bed rest" v. "p is for power" for me

chesty la roux (donna rouge), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

those are the 2 that i come back to as well, and freaky freaky.

I love rainbow cookies (surm), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

oh and drink in my cup. ultimate late night jam.

I love rainbow cookies (surm), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

Freaky Freaky vs. Friend Lover, I guess?

Though my favorite moment on the whole thing is prolly the "hello/yellow" rhyme on Drink in My Cup.

maciej recognizing trill, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

Is this worth a try if I wasn't into either Dream album?

― Tim F, Monday, August 10, 2009 6:20 AM (Yesterday) Bookmark

i kind of agree with this, except that i just love when the song switches up to that airy, weightless bridge AND THEN moves into "let me see your dollar signs!!" - soo many ideas in that song

herb tycoon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

i find the simplicity of p is for power hard to argue with. great, clean vocals. and yeah, lemme see them dollar signs is hella catchy.

I love rainbow cookies (surm), Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

also: "the Y is for YESSSS! ooh! vanillah!"

i think we all agree that "in the bottom rung" of this album is all relative

lex pretend, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

also lol at them managing to make VANILLA, of all words, sound dirty

BENNIES

ςὖτ ιτ Οὖτ (some dude), Friday, 30 May 2014 11:43 (eleven years ago)

In my head it has a slightly different resonance: in Australia if you're sufficiently physically or psychologically incapacitated you qualify for a government pension.

So the first few times I heard "Bed Rest" (notwithstanding the title) I half-assumed ER were saying that the sex was so good that even the Federal Government agreed they had to stay at home afterwards.
