This is based on an actual argument the Mrs. & I had last night. Earlier in the day, she was waxing rhapsodic about how fucking great Van the Man is/was/whatever, and I believe I mentioned that I'd rather listen to someone being clubbed to death with their own sawed-off limbs than subject myself to his wobbly piffle. Later on, she came home to find me watching that Kraftwerk documentary with rapt attention and went off on a tirade about how they make deathly boring music. Cue acrimony.
To my mind, there is no contest. Kraftwerk wins. You may beg to differ (although you'll be wrong)

Ha, might come to that.

Them vs Kraftwerk might require a moment's thought, but the result would be the same.

i totally agree. weird.

Shouldn't this be a poll? The third option being, "kill me now, they're both different circles of hell."

there is room enough in my heart for both van morrison and kraftwerk
― tylerw, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 21:57 (sixteen years ago)
I get why people like both (or either, as the case may be), but despite many tries I'm not one of them. Add The Fall and there's my trinity of "I get it, but do not want it."

Easiest pick ever.
Although did Kraftwerk ever do anything as awesome as "You say France and I whistle" ?

(yes, obv!)
Bleepin' and a bloopin' will always win over wailin' and a croonin'.The question is, if you give Van Morrison 16 beats only, could he come up with a melody interesting enough to sustain 3 minutes of song? No, no he can not.

I don't mean to troll, but what Kraftwerk documentary?

I can easily imagine Van covering "Trans-Europe Express."

Van Morrison EASILY! I came late to his body of work and did not get unto him until his live San Francisco album, which I believe came out in the early 1990s. I loved it! If you can, give it a listen.
EVentually I found that Tupelo Honey was the most enjoyable album of his, to me though.

I prefer what Kraftwerk has wrought, but prefer listening to primo Van.

Good answer. Soukesian's answer is closer to my heart tho.
