i'm sure nine inch nails was up in there

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Thursday, 13 August 2009 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

i wanted to vote RATM just to piss whiney off, but then i saw that sheryl crow was on there and knew the true path of my heart

Woodstock '94.

Toss up between Collective Soul and Bush. Actually, fuck it -- Collective Soul. They were indefensible.

Alex in NYC, Thursday, 13 August 2009 20:51 (sixteen years ago)

i vote bush.

scott seward, Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

cosmic abbigong (Abbott), Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

Woodstock '94.

oh duh. i remember because i had a dubbed vhs tape of it that i sold to a dude who later became my best friend in hs.

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

this is a great poll idea, FYI

No idea how Collective Soul didn't make the cut in my poll!

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

this was the 3rd Bass reunion. They were the very first act to play at Woodstock 99 iirc and played on the stage on the tarmac

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:18 (sixteen years ago)

i'm prolly gonna have to go with Counting Crows

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:19 (sixteen years ago)

Chemical Brothers, most of the other bad acts are just ZZZzzzz, Chembros would have driven me out of earshot, even if it meant going 10 miles away or something.

f1f0 (Pashmina), Thursday, 13 August 2009 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

Honestly, given how far they'd fallen from their glory years by this point, I'm gonna vote for George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. I remember watching this on cable and they were searingly awful.

kinda lol but mostly sad

Collective Soul will walk this.

John Entwhistle???

Actually, the John Entwistle Band didn't play on the main stage, but rather on the (um...) "new artists" stage.

Sara Sara Sara, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:21 (sixteen years ago)

I had no idea Beastie Boys were there. Surprised about Pulp and Muse.

billstevejim, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:28 (sixteen years ago)

It's kind of incredible this disaster ever happened.

billstevejim, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

Unfortunate capper to a Woodstock III press release announcing the line-up.

Woodstock may have had the magic; Woodstock III has the muscle.

da croupier, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:56 (sixteen years ago)

Did anyone on ILX actually go?

Woodstock 94: I SO FUCKEN MAD I couldn't go to this. It had an amazing lineup that I'd still go to see if it was happening today. But I was 14 and in Florida. I had no way to go. I watched the whole thing on pay-per-view, no shit.

Woodstock 99: I was finally old enough to drive a car to a festival and the lineup was a total shitshow. I was pissed.

Like Bob Dylan vs. Creed. Get the fuck out of here

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:57 (sixteen years ago)

I was in NY staying at my Aunt's apt during woodstock 94. She had some illegal cable hook up with free pay per view, so I got to watch a lot of the sets, most memorably nine inch nails.

da croupier, Friday, 14 August 2009 02:59 (sixteen years ago)

Fucking 94 had Aphex Twin, Deee-Lite, Salt-N-Pepa, Cypress Hill, Youssou N'Dour, Gil Scott-Heron and like seven bands that played the original Woodstock. And now you give us Full Devil Jacket, fuk u

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

can't find the order bands played woodstock 99 in, would like to see just who played before and after pulp

da croupier, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

I literally stayed indoors and watched 94 all weekend. My fave band at the time was Primus, and I remember them cutting from CSNY to show the mayhem goin down for them.

I really wanted to play in the mud :(

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

Jamiroquai. (Though I've never knowingly heard Mickey Hart/Planet Drum, so who knows.)

xhuxk, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:05 (sixteen years ago)

I think it has to be sheryl crow for me.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Friday, 14 August 2009 03:20 (sixteen years ago)

i was going to vote for RHCP or RATM, but there's worse bands even on this list

thomp, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

also here is a clip of mickey hart's 'planet drum' apparently

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUZRC2LEUKE

thomp, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:24 (sixteen years ago)

this poll is just as hard as the other one, but for different reasons. my vote goes to bush. complete crap, and people still listen to it today for some reason.

borntohula, Friday, 14 August 2009 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

Going with Costello.

van smack, Friday, 14 August 2009 04:15 (sixteen years ago)

Jamiroquai

Matos W.K., Friday, 14 August 2009 04:41 (sixteen years ago)

Not you too.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Friday, 14 August 2009 04:49 (sixteen years ago)

yeah sorry I gotta go with Jammerocky too.

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 14 August 2009 05:21 (sixteen years ago)

Honestly, given how far they'd fallen from their glory years by this point, I'm gonna vote for George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. I remember watching this on cable and they were searingly awful.

― unperson,

Ok so is this when you're supposed to use the term "challops?"

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 14 August 2009 05:22 (sixteen years ago)

The Woodstock 99 simulcast was played on K-Rock that weekend, and I recall driving from family's house to a friend's house that afternoon in the midst of Bush's set.. It was actually while listening to this that I decided I didn't hate them.. I went a few years hating their dumb asses up until then.. There are far worse bands that played at this show.

billstevejim, Friday, 14 August 2009 05:29 (sixteen years ago)

Jamiroquai hate will always mystify me. Especially when there's someone humorless and self-aggrandizing like Moby to be taken down a peg or ten.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Friday, 14 August 2009 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

I thought Moby used to crack jokes..

billstevejim, Friday, 14 August 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

If Animal Rights counts, yeah.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Friday, 14 August 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

Sadly that was a non-joke, although his performance of "Revolver" was pretty lolz.

billstevejim, Friday, 14 August 2009 05:40 (sixteen years ago)

Especially when there's someone humorless and self-aggrandizing like Moby to be taken down a peg or ten

Right but that doesn't make his music worse than Jammyroxy's. Or inherently bad.

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 14 August 2009 06:09 (sixteen years ago)

I don't hate any of these but Counting Crows have a really annoying name and while "Mr. Jones" was a pretty good single they've many more execrable moments, e.g. "Raining in Baltimore"; they named an album This Desert Life; and they covered "Big Yellow Taxi" in 20-fucking-02.

deep olives (Euler), Friday, 14 August 2009 10:33 (sixteen years ago)

I voted for Bush.

Matt DC, Friday, 14 August 2009 10:46 (sixteen years ago)

Counting Fucking Crows

unban dictionary (blueski), Friday, 14 August 2009 11:01 (sixteen years ago)

Voting Jamiroquai in the hope that one day he'll find this poll and it'll make him cry. Sorry if that makes me a bad person.

Joerg Hi Dere (NickB), Friday, 14 August 2009 11:09 (sixteen years ago)

It's hard not to vote Jamiroquai really. Mike Ness is pretty unforgivable too - don't know why he's on this poll and not the other one. My only other choices would be Muse or Pulp who I've never knowingly heard, but strongly suspect I would hate.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 14 August 2009 11:23 (sixteen years ago)

Not voting for Jamiroquai is so, so easy. I don't know what is wrong with you people. I bet Bruce Hornsby really tore it up. Was The Range there too, or just solo Hornsby?

chocolatepiekid, Friday, 14 August 2009 12:09 (sixteen years ago)

Right but that doesn't make his music worse than Jammyroxy's. Or inherently bad.

No, if anything, his arrogance masquerading as Zen humbleness is the only thing compelling about his zzzzzzzzz elevator grooves.

sir-mounter (Eric H.), Friday, 14 August 2009 13:49 (sixteen years ago)

I kind of like Jamiroquai.

cosmic abbigong (Abbott), Friday, 14 August 2009 16:54 (sixteen years ago)

They like to JAM and they like IROQUOIS Indians.

^^^this statement always cheers me up

cosmic abbigong (Abbott), Friday, 14 August 2009 16:55 (sixteen years ago)

would take Jamiroquai over half the acts here

unban dictionary (blueski), Friday, 14 August 2009 16:57 (sixteen years ago)

jamiroquai too boring to get worked up over. I can easily imagine being at a fest, jammy playing, and NOT EVEN NOTICING.

f1f0 (Pashmina), Friday, 14 August 2009 17:22 (sixteen years ago)

i have been to a jamiroquai concert within the past two years and thus feel fairly justified in my hatred of them but they are still not the worst act on this list

The Collected Works of Fun Fun (donna rouge), Friday, 14 August 2009 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

it's kind of amazing that there isn't a Woodstock '09 headlined by Kings Of Leon or some shit happening right now

some dude, Friday, 14 August 2009 17:37 (sixteen years ago)

not really, what with the countless festivals not tainted by riot and rape out there to put on

Deliberately calling Jay Kay Jamiroquai always cheers me up - no fun in calling Gavin Rosdale 'Bush' so I'm going to vote for them

I can't believe this many people think Collective Soul is better than Bush.

billstevejim, Saturday, 15 August 2009 05:51 (sixteen years ago)

I WAS THERE!

I'm going to have to go with Bush or that-era Metallica. Didn't go to see Collective Soul, but somehow they seem less sinister than Bush or that-era Metallica.

Yeah, Metallica circa '99 was pure shit, so them.

Only thing that was good from that whole fuckin' terrible time was The Roots--I think they played right before Godsmack. That and I liked Fatboy Slim back then.

the who cares (okamax), Saturday, 15 August 2009 09:10 (sixteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure limp bizkit was there.

Well, I wrote some stuff and Kenny Loggins heard it, so, y'know... (EDB), Saturday, 15 August 2009 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, Metallica circa '99 was pure shit, so them.

Yeah, Metallica circa '99 was pure shit, so them.

True. Thank you for correcting me... I just meant that that period Metallica was significantly worse than the other periods of Metallica, which I don't like either.

the who cares (okamax), Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:47 (sixteen years ago)

collective soul, bush in close second.

sally draper (get bent), Sunday, 16 August 2009 17:13 (sixteen years ago)

i like some of jamiroquai's music from the '90s, though i think even by '99 the dude was weak. i can't vote for collective soul even though they have that horrible video with the would-be jumper who stops because of a dirty pigeon landing on his shoulder.) bush is horrible but i can't vote for them for the same reason i can't vote for CS: they are not counting crows.

omar little, Sunday, 16 August 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

Even though I was in high school in Syracuse during this, I didn't go; instead I worked at CompUSA at the mall that weekend and sold a Chemical Brother a laptop (but not, to my dismay, the ripoff extended warranty).

So them, I guess. I could have used the commission.
