When Jay-Z was at All Points West he had everyone sing along to Jigga My N**** and when he got to the part with the n-word, the chanting had turned from a unanimous roar to a nebulous wash of white ppl either mumbling awkwardly or just going in and saying it. But is that a result of the discomfort with the sentiment or genuine ignorance? I have a friend who thinks that those kids are pretty unintelligible, and would've been even more so on transistor radios in 1968, and that's what made the song less provocative and more palatable to AM radio programmers of the day.
