Hello. I would like to do a poll on the greatest NZ album. Its tough though so I thought I might get some nominations form the community before I make the list. Max. of two albums by one artist. I would like to accept compilations where they were put out in lieu of an album not just as career spanning retrospectives. Under this condition- The Clean Compilation would be O.K as would AK 79.Heres 11 that i think should be considered. Mainly F.Nun.- thats my bias.

my knowledge of NZ pop is spotty & leans towards the experimental/lo-fi/drone side, so i'm hardly even qualified to post on this thread tbh

if i was going to nom another dead c album it would be "harsh seventies reality"
really enjoy birchville cat motel's "beautiful speck triumph" too, now that i look at my cds and remember when i went through a heavy phase of falling asleep to that album.

While "True Colours" may be there best, Split Enz also deserves nominations for "Waiata" and "Conflicting Emotions"

Depending on the definition, there's Crowded House too, although they were at least 50 per cent Australian and also Australia based.

NZ's genius resides, though, in its 12"s. The top 25 NZ 12"s would be a strong list.
