Falling - what a dope jam
― Colin Allstations (PaulTMA), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 18:26 (thirteen years ago)
whoa, too bad i totally missed this when released a decade ago, but it is pretty great sounding to me. the other tracks on bring it back are persuasively joyous. mcalmont sounds great, as usual.

Think I dismissed it as being a bit 'Yes II' at the time, but then again it's what they did goods at

Falling was a really good single but I loved Bring it Back so much more, really should have been a huge hit. Never seen the video before I love their awkward dancing near the end. The album was actually pretty decent, nothing as amazing as Yes of course but Can We Make it, Different Strokes and especially Theme From McAlmont & Butler were all really great songs. Yes is probably my favourite single of the 90's, I never tire of it. This performance on Later is one of the best things I've ever seen on there.

i think bring it all back is one of the best songs ever.
it never fails to make me feel good.
(and the rest of the album is almost as good .. )

I like both of their records and wouldn't mind a third one (looks like they are touring again this year.)
But seriously, "Yes" is such a phenomenal record that has stuck with me such a long time. Good to know it has for other people too:

Yeah, it's an alltime jam and You Do isn't far behind.
― sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Saturday, 25 April 2015 03:02 (ten years ago)
yeah this album is just the first two songs and then the last two songs for me but that's an excellent keeper right there

Yes is one of my favourite songs ever and the Jools Holland performance is all time. Love You Do too, still can't believe it got such a muted reaction when it came out. Not a big fan of the first album but the second one was really good.

totally.it's like they realised what worked for them after the hit and miss of the debut, and just went for it.

The first wasn't an album, though. More like a kind of compilation around yes and you do. The second is great. And as written upthread, bring it back is a fantastic song. Love the riff. And the one eletric guitar chord after the first chorus !

Am I missing something? This is the regular version/song - what do you mean 'who this is'?
― kinder, Friday, 4 June 2021 23:28 (three years ago)
oh shit wait did you mean you're hearing YES for the first time? How much better is your life now!?
― kinder, Friday, 4 June 2021 23:34 (three years ago)
I love it but just realised how much it sounds like “design for life”
― Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 5 June 2021 12:48 (three years ago)
This is great, a podcast that reviews obscure demo tapes ends up with Julianne Moore & Bernard's orginal demo for the song that later became Yes - they like it a lot but don't recognise the McAlmont & Butler song in there, although they've since found out. Seems completely genuine.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE0COhKyugQ
― PaulTMA, Friday, 3 November 2023 11:21 (one year ago)
hahaaha one comment "convinced that’s a demo for yes by Mac almost and butler." well yeah it's macalmost but not too close. def butler.

Thanks for this, fantastic!
― kinder, Friday, 3 November 2023 14:36 (one year ago)
altho I was thinking "no way this is Julianne Moore!"
McAlmost and Butler is the name of a tribute band in a parallel universe.
― henry s, Friday, 3 November 2023 15:01 (one year ago)
I posted this elsewhere and someone immediately said they must have known what the tape was, but I'm not buying that at all - I don't think they would have been able to keep the act up so well.
