1991 Grammy Awards Album of the Year poll

As with 2002 Grammy Awards Album of the Year poll and the two before (1971 and 1985). This is like the '85 one in reverse in that this is pretty unremitting schlockerama, though I should probably hear the Quincy album before making that a final judgment. (I have indeed heard the others, oh yes.) Quincy took the trophy.

half that hammer album is pretty decent

patti lmaonnaise (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 24 August 2009 03:41 (sixteen years ago)

having heard exactly one of these albums (Hammer) i think it's kind of safe to assume that Mariah's might be the most OK one of this bunch?

I want to try and hear the Quincy before I vote but otherwise I'm picking Hammer.

Back On the Block is probably the album my dad played the most when I was 3-6 years old.

The Mariah album is ballad hell.

Matos W.K., Monday, 24 August 2009 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

I'm not going to vote against an album that has Miles Davis, Barry White, and Big Daddy Kane on it.

Back On the Block is probably the album my dad played the most when I was 3-6 years old.

Totally ditto, except for me it was when I was 11-13 years old.

Well, no, not a strong list. And I still have all 5. Quincy's is the strongest. Hammer and Phil are merely okay. And then there's Mariah Carey and Wilson Phillips. Weren't there stronger album of year contenders by female artists in 1991?

jetfan, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:19 (sixteen years ago)

Phil Collins is going to win this, isn't he?

boring movies are the most boring (Eric H.), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:23 (sixteen years ago)

Back on the Block is a really interesting album: big producer persuades his favorite talent to perform for him! I really liked "Secret Garden" at the time.

I didn't even vote on this! Lord.

if I don't see more dissent, I'm going to have to check myself in (Matos W.K.), Thursday, 27 August 2009 23:18 (sixteen years ago)
