Dirtbombs. They're not great, but they're the best of that pile.

neither good nor bad, just a kid like you (unperson), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)

Dirtbombs comp is amazing, esp the covers

go Nick go! Scrub that paint! Scrub it!! Yeah!! (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)

canty is an amazing drummer and i used to really like lois' voice but i bet that record isn't very good

jergins, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

Surrender is the only one I have, so it's the best.

irreconcilable aesthetic criteria (Eric H.), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

(btw i don't know derrick morgan but it looks old and jamaican, so we can assume a certain base level of quality)

the turdlike genius of Jeff Tweete´ (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:58 (sixteen years ago)

(i'm actually pretty excited about the canty thing cuz i heart his drumming)

the turdlike genius of Jeff Tweete´ (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 19:58 (sixteen years ago)

Dirtbombs

repeating cycles of smoking and cruelty (Michael White), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

Derrick Morgan

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:10 (sixteen years ago)

That Dirtbombs is probably the best release they've done, I never got into their albums as much as the singles.

I love the Softies but they're very twee indiepop so probably not to most people's tastes.

Agree that Lois & Brendan Canty album's not very good.

someone who is ranked fairly highly in an army of poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

I like that welsh SFA album. Or I did when I heard it last about 7 years ago.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:19 (sixteen years ago)

^^yes. my favorite thing by them.

Dan S, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

i've only heard the softies record, it's boring but pleasant, would be good for napping or reading or general background music

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:25 (sixteen years ago)

mwng is the only one of those I've heard but it's great

peter in montreal, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:47 (sixteen years ago)

only know and love Surrender (tho you could skip the track ft. J Donahue)

unban dictionary (blueski), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:48 (sixteen years ago)

I have a weird thing for that Softies record, never heard Derrick Morgan. It's probably the Dirtbombs.

A severe accident, perhaps a dinosaur tragedy (CharlieS), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:54 (sixteen years ago)

Dirtbombs comp is amazing, esp the covers

^yes

(taking of which the Datblygu cover is the best thing on 'Mwng'... some stans for the band think it's their best record, can't get behind that but it's worth hearing by all means)

Dirtbombs and Mwng by far

Jamie_ATP, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 20:57 (sixteen years ago)

they are all crap. get yourself a real good cd. like talk talk's spirit of eden, joni mitchell's blue or joy division's les bains douches.

alex in mainhattan, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

i have those CDs already, but thanks for the suggestions

the turdlike genius of Jeff Tweete´ (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

and what about radiohead's amnesiac, giant sand's chore of enchantment and yo la tengo's electropura?

alex in mainhattan, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:21 (sixteen years ago)

i have amnesiac, i only have backyard BBQ broadcast & one other one by giant sand (but i like them) and i don't have electropura (but i do own some yo la tengo cds)

the turdlike genius of Jeff Tweete´ (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:24 (sixteen years ago)

dirtbombs for sure, but i like that softies record too...not exactly a barnburner, but it's not really tryna be

pretzel walrus, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:24 (sixteen years ago)

(glum is the other giant sand one i have)

the turdlike genius of Jeff Tweete´ (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

psychgawsple, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

Mwng is such a great little pop record, even if you have no idea what he is talking about...

Bee OK, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 01:44 (sixteen years ago)

Surrender isn't very strong all around, but "Out of Control" is one of my favorite tracks ever so i must vote for that.

myndbloom, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 01:46 (sixteen years ago)

Chems.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:03 (sixteen years ago)

Mwng is awesome. Pure class.

teflon monkey, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:14 (sixteen years ago)

That's good, but not even close to GZM's best. Shoot for Tatay or Barafundle.

teflon monkey, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:14 (sixteen years ago)

i love this album too!!

on that album, they make most amerikkkan freekfukkkers look like sad sour milk from a donkey.

scott seward, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:20 (sixteen years ago)

I like Bwyd Time and Gorky 5 most from what I've heard. How I Long...I also have, and need to give a thorough re-listen to.

Mwng is a brilliant, brilliant album. SFA's 2nd-best. It's just sensational. I'm voting for it even though I've only heard one of the other albums, which happens to be the Chems' pinnacle.

They are known for contracting the ugliest players, like Kuyt (country matters), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 02:24 (sixteen years ago)

sad sour milk from a donkey.
Hey, how did you know? That's the title of the forthcoming Devendra Banhart record.
