1961 Grammy Awards Album of the Year poll

As with 1991 Grammy Awards Album of the Year poll (plus 1971, 1985, and 2002 before it). This was the third-ever Grammy Awards; I figured it would be at least somewhat familiar to a few people here--the artists if not the albums, though in some cases the albums too. The Grammy went to Bob Newhart.

The Bob Newhart is pretty funny. Sinatra and Nat King not one of their classics. Has anyone heard the other 2?

no, but how bad could the Belafonte be?

I would love input from any classical-heads here.

Did Sinatra's album give "Easy Listening" its name?

The Belafonte was a staple of my childhood. Great album, and he's in fine voice. The Richter is good (I've yet to come across a real crap Richter) but I'm not a big Brahams guy. Newhart won, right?

I'm voting for Harry and my happy childhood memories.

It really is anomalous in almost every way: six nominees rather than five (wonder what the tie was; 1971 was the other six-album year); not one but two classical noms (one per year was normal for the first few years); not only a comedy nominee but a comedy winner, one of two in Grammy history.

what's mindblowing is that the Newhart LP was recorded at his *first* appearance in front of a club audience. He'd only done comedy on radio up til then.
