seem to have been around for ages, but what are they like? i have always imagined a more ramshackle bardo pond, or if an improv bardo pond maybe, i don't know. julio?

not really like Bardo Pond at all. JT was the leader of the Original Sins, a great garage band from Bethleham, PA in the USA that flitted between Stoogey rifts and classic 60's pop melodies. His solo stuff is more a bit more stretched out, outsiderish lo-fi pop influenced psych songs in which JT gets a bit more unhinged than with the basic rock structures of the Original Sins. The lives shows I have seen with him and Vibrolux have been great -- JT has charisma to burn with the added bonus of much talent.

Good god, is he still going? Bully for him...

The Original Sins were a FANTASTIC 60s garage band. Played a lot of shows with them back in the day. Then there was one last OS album, "Bethlehem" that went all weird and moody and down, and no amazing kick ass stomping Mary, Mary covers anywhere to be seen. And next thing we knew he'd gone all shoegazer.

Most Pennsylvania bands at the time were going the other way, after The Lilys' reincarnation from shoegazing chancers to 60s garage stompers. The only Brother JT stuff I'd ever heard was a bit wibbling, but I have friends that swear by them.

wow coincidentally i have just put on "music for the other head" - it's great - i don't rate the original sins nearly as high as his solo or Vibrolux or Fuzz Face stuff but yeah some of it is great...i like his stuff that's less in that straight garage revival type thing tho.

& yeah his stuff in that drone-fuzz-stretch out vein is way better than bardo bond too IMO (theyre pretty good tho)

If it involves JT it's worth my time. The Original Sins have more of a garage type sound while Brother JT/3/Vibrolux seems to take it more "out". Some of the records have a real acid folk type of feel with JT's bizzare tripped out visions while Music For The Other Head is the best Stooges thru Coltraine influenced ride I can think of...Get on the rocket if your so inclined. Still haven't heard Fuzz Face. Anyone wanna lay a tape on me???

awful. awful awful awful. his solo stuff is even worse; having seen him live he comes across as a half-assed tom waits, grunting out pseudo-biblical crap while playing random blues chords. terrible.

Not the time I saw him -- indeed, he was quite gentle and sang the sweetest song ever about Moon Pies, after which he proceeded to eat one.

seems to me Brother JT sounds nothing like Tom Waits, the comparison seemingly come from the fact that Brother JT is eccentric as is Waits -- not because they sound anything like each other whatsoever, which they don't.

oh man yeah ned that "moon pie" song is real pretty!

tom waits? whuh? i hate tom waits.
