"Venus in Furs" by the Velvet Underground

jonthan thrak, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fucking hell, it's done it again! Can't you stop it sending?

jonathan thrak, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not songs, but certain bits of songs ...

I used to find the beginning of Depeche Mode's "Behind the Wheel" - the start with the pan-pipe preset - incredibly sexy.

The synth riff from Salt'n'Pepa's "Push It".

Certain early house tracks with moaning women ... anyone remember "Happy Magic" or, I think that Quartz track from 89ish.

The melodic riff off "Se crets of China" by Chinese Ways.

phil, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Serge Gainsbourg - let's pick one, how about "Love on the Beat"

A Nairn, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"The Look of Love", Dusty Springfield.

Sean, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye, "Get It On" by T-Rex, "Heart Of Glass" by Blondie and "The Look Of Love" by Dusty Springfield. All equally sexy, and something for everyone (kiddie fiddlers and goat-lovahs excluded).

"The Pussy Song" Lords of Acid

Lord Custos III, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Dur Dur d'etre Bebe" by Jordy, "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)" by Aaron Carter, "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" from some musical I can't remember.

Nick A., Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"kissed by a rose" by seal

peter, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The very beginning of "Sly" by Massive Attack is like you're being read an English essay but big watery eyes on you and a curled smile the whole time

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't really think that. it might actually be the least sexy song.

peter, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Least sexy song: "Desperado" as sung by a 9 year old girl on the Langley Schools Music Project album. A person on another mailing list called it an "erection neutralizer" and apparently would play the song when her boyfriend was too frisky.

Most sexy: obvious choice would be Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin singing "Je t'aime...moi non plus," but for the moment I'll go with "Think That It Might" by Altered Images for its chorus and that last sustained "miiiiiight" at the peak. It makes me tremble.

Ernest, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sylvia - "Pillow Talk"

briania, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Luomo - "She-Center"

Clarke B., Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Etta James - "At Last"

Chris, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Al Green, "I'm Glad You're Mine." and boy am I glad someone voted for Luomo....

M Matos, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lots of good suggestions. For me, the Shangri-Las win it for the bit at the end of Give Him A Great Big Kiss where, after the girls ask "How does he dance?" Mary Ann Ganser breathes "Close. Very, very close."

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Get Off" by Prince. It has to be Prince, doesn't it?

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

prince ADORE

chaki, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Triumph of Death" by Hellhammer.........just kidding.

I think "Burn for You" by the Police (originally on the BRIMSTONE & TREACLE soundtrack) is pretty sexy. And "Song to the Siren" as done by This Mortal Coil ain't bad neither.

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it get it on with blur's 'trailerpark'

jack, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ha ha ha - lords of acid. a serious answer, perhaps, "queer" by garbage.

dyson, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"The Look of Love" by Isaac Hayes on Live at the Sahara Tahoe.

Dave Beckhouse, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pulp - This is Hardcore

Penny Lane, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

any song from Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval

mino, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pulp - This is Hardcore

I assume this is meant ironically; of course I know how to party... otherwise I wouldn't have come.

Sean, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chrissy Hynde's voice...I'll go with "When will I see you?" but any of her songs are sexy to me. She's special, ya know?

gil farkey, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd go along with Chrissy Hynde's voice esp. on "I Go To Sleep". Donna Summer's "Love to love you baby", "Put Your Love in Me" Hot Chocolate, Marvin's "Sexual Healing" or my current fave sexy tune is the sultry vocals of Sia Furler on Zero 7's "Distractions"

Rhia, Thursday, 4 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

'Dirty Mind' by Prince (even tho some people think that all that stuff is stupid, I know); The Stooges - except the mantra songs; Perversion by The Trashwomen; 'Kill kill kill' by Snoop Dogg.

maryann, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PS Does sexy = totally absurd? If not disregard above

maryann, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Diane Halpern contributes a study of the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, which has (apparently) preoccupied stupidity researchers since the writing of Ostrom's book"

maryann, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what! you can get PAID to research stupidity?

mark s, Friday, 5 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

According to Salon.com but I guess that might be their wishful thinking HA HA HA

maryann, Saturday, 6 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My guess is that this is the profession of half the readers of ILX.

Martin Skidmore, Saturday, 6 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Inside My Love" by Minnie Riperton

Andy K, Saturday, 6 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Gimme Danger," Stooges.

milaca, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I find half of the songs on "First Album" by Miss Kittin & The Hacker VERY sexy; maybe it's in part because I love Miss Kittin's deliberately bad english on them.

daavid (daavid), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"She Can't Love You" by Chemise. Those squishy synths and Nueva York accents get me every time.

lovebug starski (lovebug starski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe no one has mentioned "It's Over" by the Funkmasters! Especially the 15 minute version!!!! Sexy stuff!!!!

piers (piers), Thursday, 26 August 2004 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Too many to mention ... but I will list Drugstore's "Speaker 12", because that is surely the sexiest song about suicide.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 26 August 2004 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

-- Daniel_Rf (danie...), July 2nd, 2002.

marc bolan sometimes sounds like a goat though...

but my vote would be for 'flower' by sonic youth,

and frighteningly enough, fischerspooner works well for sex.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Thursday, 26 August 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

'Persuasion' by Throbbing Gristle.

As if sleeping with me wasn't unpleasant enough.

Isn't the title of this thread a tautology?

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Piers, I'll trade you "Smooth Operator" for "Girl from Ipanema".

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ballad of Dorothy Parker"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim - you're on, but let's just share and get both. "Smooth Operator" works for me - all class and a couple o' nice cocktails on leather couches with a city skyline view. yep.

piers (piers), Thursday, 26 August 2004 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost x 5
LOL! Marc Bolan sometimes sounding like a goat is really quite amusing. Especially considering I suggested that (some) women find his voice completely sexy on that other thread. But firstworldman made my afternoon. Just picturing a goat singing "Is it strange to dance so soon?" No, but it's strange that you're a goat!

'Scuse me all.

piers (piers), Thursday, 26 August 2004 04:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The Funkmasters "It's Over", with Juliet Roberts' orgasmic tones and "that" thrusting bassline.

Oooooh, it's all over....

Nobody Does It Better - Carly Simon. For once I gotta agree with Thom Yorke, who I read recently had declared it "the sexiest song ever written" or something like that

Iago Galdston, Monday, 16 April 2012 00:51 (thirteen years ago)

Cocteau Twins - "Lorelei"

Arghn, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

xp: agreed

beachville, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:35 (thirteen years ago)

For once I gotta agree with Thom Yorke, who I read recently had declared it "the sexiest song ever written" or something like that

In 1995 was driving and listening to the radio and they were broadcasting a Radiohead concert. Thom said "Here's the second sexiest song of all time" and they covered "Nobody Does it Better." Then he said "Here's the sexiest song of all time" and they played "Creep."

Haha, that's pretty funny actually. I hadn't heard this song since like the early 80s and it just hit me like a ton of bricks...this song is totally hot! Or maybe it's just leftover hormones from my 13 year old brain being reignited

Iago Galdston, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:53 (thirteen years ago)

Cocteau Twins - "Lorelei"
― Arghn

Actually, Ella Fitzgerald's "Lorelei" is pretty damn sexy too
