The album came out yesterday and not a peep about it here, weird. I had a previous Entrance album that was more Guy Blakeslee solo with Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle, Zwan, QOTSA) helping out, and it was just alright. But a friend recommended I catch them this summer, and was pleasantly surprised. They're a proper band now, and actually rock.
On first listen, my first impression was I wished it was a little thicker sounding like their live psych-rock set. That quickly was no longer an issue as I was struck by how great the songs are.
Funny quote from Ecstatic Peace owner Thurston Moore, "The Entrance Band's new music is the most alluring and, yes, entrancing vibe I've yet to experience in this new age. A soundtrack for the new groove."

I adore Prayer of Death, on of my favs of this decade. I don't like this one at all. MLK is like listening to Schoolhouse Rock, except Schoolhouse Rock was actually funky. I like the new lyrics to Grim Reaper, but it's not heavy at all anymore! And the rest just sounds like October-era U2 to me.

I've seen the Entrance Band twice and...they're pleasant but a bit time-killing? I dunno, I've seen/heard a LOT of epic-psych-biker-power-trio-etc bands over the years now...

What an odd comparison. I have to say that most new music will suffer when compared to most of those classic Schoolhouse Rock tunes. "Stille Be There" is like Comsat Angels!
