Keith Moon, drummer, gets so high that he drives a Type 34 Karmann Ghia onstage and attempts to "play" the car like a drumset.

I thought this was about Spiritualized at the CN Tower and WTC.

I saw that CN Tower show. It was a super high show for sure.

All you really gotta say is "Keith Moon, drummer...." and you can lock the thread.

Last November, Spiritualized played the "highest show ever," performing in a sky pod two thirds of the way up Toronto's CN Tower. While Guinness is still deciding whether or not to recognize the feat in their Book of Records, another Spiritualized milestone is indisputable.

I think they were scooped by ZZ Top iirc, who actually played the CN Tower a couple of years earlier

I used to work at the CN Tower (years after that gig though) and i can't picture Spiritualized (or any band really) playing there. What was it like Brio?

I saw Ministry so high that they were stumbling into each other and the drummer couldn't keep on beat with the sequences.

I also booked Stovokor the Klingon metal band on top of the Space Needle at a Trek convention.

The CN Tower show was just a weird publicity stunt. My memory of it is a bit hazy but there was a pretty small crowd of mostly record label types (remember them?) and radio people and some contest winners. I got in with friends who worked at a record store. It was in the late afternoon as I remember it, and they played a short set. Would have been a lot more fun if the crowd was regular people.
