Can we talk about the trailer for Daybreakers and it's godawful cover of "Running up that Hill (Deal with God" by Placebo?

I mean really, I'd like a Placebo fan to try and defend this fucking cover (starts about 1:35). It's entirely possible that I'm just being an overly touchy Kate Bush fan, but good god I'd forgotten how awful that mid-90s slightly emo, slightly faux-industrial voice could be.

This cover's been around forever! Talk about repurposing. I like it well enough but I'm not going to bother getting into it, it's just there and they've done better covers.

Yeah this cover is about 5 years old now innit - didn't placebo do a whole covers album or something horrible?

^ that was six years ago, and AFAIK was a compilation of previously-recorded stuff, I think the Running had been on the radio the year before

I quite like Placebo but there's no way I'm defending Milko's voice.

Sleeping with Ghosts came with a bonus-disc of cover versions, including this one. There is even an official video for it, which doesn't seem to be on Youtube at the moment (only fan vids). It actually got me back into the band, after having given up on them circa Black Market Music.
