You know, where side 1 has the best track(s) and side 2 has the 'filler', yeah that dramatic a split.

(note: Not the "side 2 is better" thread, maybe we should do those separately)

Send it to the other thread then.

I often wonder, for all that loads of artists say "I still think of albums as two sided entities", why nobody's ever done a "double 3" CD" format album.

XTC did a triple one, but that's all I know of.

I think Notwist's Neon Golden was originally issued in that format.

― Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 7 September 2009 23:19 (Yesterday)

No, because E.T.I. and This Ain't The Summer Of Love are on side 1, and some forgettable dreck is on side 2.

Matt #2, Tuesday, 8 September 2009 02:03 (fifteen years ago)

i'm quite surprised that so many genuine classics are being mentioned in this category ('for your pleasure', 'remain in light', 'marquee moon', 'another green world'). the idea of a whole side's worth of filler on those albums is inconceivable to me. for me this thread lends itself much more easily to records that have a legitimately shitty second side after a promising start (something along the lines of modest mouse's 'good news for people who love bad news').

73. Bruce Springsteen, Tunnel Of Love.

(something along the lines of modest mouse's 'good news for people who love bad news').

Now, see, thats just wrong too, considering that "Tetons" and "Good Times..." are two of the best songs on the album.

OMG! I totally misread the thread title. I hereby withdraw No. 73. Side Two of Tunnel Of Love is far better than Side One (and I think I said so on the proper thread). Apologies.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 8 September 2009 03:19 (fifteen years ago)

Jeez, I'm a nitwit.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 8 September 2009 03:20 (fifteen years ago)

I was wondering about that, considering I had just wandered over from that Springsteen thread.

3 mods 1 banhammer (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 8 September 2009 03:21 (fifteen years ago)

^same. havent heard that album but given the main idea of that thread was "best side 2 evar" i thought dan was just challopsing

k3vin k., Tuesday, 8 September 2009 03:22 (fifteen years ago)

All my best challops are unintentional.
