I figure Teach Me How To Fight will win this, but I loved the thumping foundation of Under The Sun.

last exit is the best song to drive around on a foggy night to. this album still rules. teach me how to fight comes a veeeerrry close second though.

no idea that Teach Me How to Fight was so loved, it's not one of my favorites at all. voted for Under the Sun.

"under the sun" prob my 2nd favourite.

I think my favourites are "More Than Real" and "High Come Down", I wish they'd done more tracks in that sexy driving 2-step vein.

i will listen to this today. amazing amazing record. i think it will remain timeless?

I'm torn between the title track and More Than Real. This is so far above the rest of their material it isn't funny.

I think "Birthday" was my favourite at the time, might have to relisten before i vote though. The Fennesz remix of "Last Exit" is also great.

yeah one of my favorite remixes ever, which I always play in summer when a heatwave kicks in - such a hazy and languid vibe off of that one

Junior Boys have been diminishing returns for me - this album is fantastic, Is This Goodbye is pretty good, and Begone Dull Care hasn't really grabbed me, apart from a couple of tracks.

i'm not sure that's what diminishing returns means

so i had a chance to re-listen to this today, it was better than i remember! going to vote for "High Come Down."

'Under the Sun' - mainly because of its hypnotic, West-End-Girls-ish quality that hooked me at first listen

Bellona is a close 2nd though

i'm not voting in this but only b/c i can't decide. i think "birthday" was the first song to hook me. but i put "high comes down" on my best of '04 mix. and "under the sun" is so great whenever i've seen them live. and "bellona" and "teach me how to fight" are fantastic, too.

sleeper hit on this for me is THREE WORDS. especially walking home on a dusky grey nite

I don't know this album very well besides "Last Exit" and "Birthday" which are both among my favorite 00's songs.. I should probably listen to the rest soon.

You should. The earlier singles (or all the singles, I guess) are all Johnny Dark collaborations, whereas some of the stuff toward the end of the album isn't, although it's still in the same vein but doesn't have the 2-step flavor to it that Tim mentioned.

I think I still have what was supposedly the unreleased MFA remix of Bellona, somewhere...

I like these polls where I can make an honest vote having heard every song

I also like 'High Come Down' and 'Last Exit'
I much prefer this to the newer Junior Boys cd which isn't as catchy or soul-gripping as songs like Birthday and Teach Me How To Fight

There's no way TMHTF is the best track...I like it and everything, but the first four tracks and Birthday are miles better. The songs with Johnny Dark are what make the album the classic that it is.

I loved all Junior Boys albums from So This Is Goodbye through It's All True, but have never listened to Last Exit.

wish some of these songs were longer.. like "more than real" or "under the sun" should have 5+ minute outros where they just vibe into the sunset.

isn't that how they rock 'under the sun' live, shoegaze stylee?

True on both accounts (and timeless goes for most of their discography imo). I wonder what they're up to.
