"Set the Ray to Jerry" is one of the best things they ever committed to tape.

Who is the woman on the CD cover? It's not D'arcy, right?

― Hobocamp, Thursday, 10 September 2009 05:25 (seventeen years ago)

I always assumed it was here, done up in some crazy garb.

But in the race for distant second, I'd have to go with "Cherry". The chorus kills "Ugly" for me and those two Iha tracks are just sorta there.

Also 1979 is one of my favorites in the mellon collie album. This is the only single in the collection I actually care about.

― Moka, Thursday, 10 September 2009 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

isn't 1979 like the only song that everyone on ilx can agree on?

― Ømår Littel (Jordan), Thursday, 10 September 2009 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

i like 1979

― Ømår Littel (Jordan), Thursday, 10 September 2009 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

1979 is good, but I never loved it as much as I felt I was supposed to based on other fans' reactions to it. I prefer "Perfect".

― King of Snake (j-rock), Thursday, 10 September 2009 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

i even own this. obviously it's 1979!

― sonderangerbot, Thursday, 10 September 2009 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

Nah, I could live a perfectly content life never hearing "1979" again. Not that I hate the song or anything, just, guh, still ridiculously overplayed imo. Even far beyond modern rock stations it seems to be one of the 3 default "lol90s" tracks still being played.
