And there's no repoll at all... "ABACAB" by Genesis

I really didn't want to make a silly POLL joke in the title. I'm very sorry.

Anyway, this album contains some of the first Genesis I ever heard (apart from the "Follow you, Follow me" single). In fact I didnt twig that the single "Abacab" was the same Genesis that spewed out turds like "We Can't Dance" until very recenty (much to my embarrasment).

But damn I love that single! It's the most new-wave sounding of their work, I think. And I've recently come to really enjoy a lot of the rest of this album too: "Keep it Dark" especially. What say youse?

Geir just did this poll about 3 weeks ago anyway.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

I looked very very carefully for this in the search! The word "abacab" doesnt come up *at all*. :( Fucking stupid search.

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

ANYWAY VOTE IN MY POLL YOU BASTARDS.

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:36 (fifteen years ago)

(btw, it didn't turn up in a search for me either... I had to search by Geir's username for threads he'd started recently)

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:36 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for Keep it Dark.

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:36 (fifteen years ago)

Keep it Dark... again! With aplomb!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 10 September 2009 03:37 (fifteen years ago)

I tried searching for Abacab recently too and no reply at all from the search function - definitely something messed up. Probably better to use Google to search on ILX.

(I will once again vote for "Dodo/Lurker" here.)

Sean Carruthers, Thursday, 10 September 2009 05:08 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for title track again, and will again point out that "There's a poll in there somewhere" is the correct title for this effing poll.

Actually this IS a repoll :)

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Thursday, 10 September 2009 09:45 (fifteen years ago)

THEY JUST SAID THAT!!

Maybe "Abacab" is a reserved word? Check the list...

Mark G, Thursday, 10 September 2009 09:55 (fifteen years ago)

Hahah very true :) I honestly did asearch, and in fact I was a bit "hang on, why wouldnt Geir have done this already hm". OH well!

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 09:55 (fifteen years ago)

argh xpost

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Thursday, 10 September 2009 09:55 (fifteen years ago)

I'm still searching for a poll in the corner, where it's hidden at I don't know. Cuz' there's no hiding place...

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Thursday, 10 September 2009 09:58 (fifteen years ago)

Answer is still "No Reply At All." I mean, the bass riff Rutherford plays going into the bridge, his weird syncopations throughout, Tony Banks's little twittering synths . . . god, this song!

Mario Brosephs (Pancakes Hackman), Thursday, 10 September 2009 13:03 (fifteen years ago)

Even the brass on that song works well.

Dearth Disco (Trayce), Friday, 11 September 2009 01:33 (fifteen years ago)
