Should I go see Manic Street Preachers or Hope Sandoval?

Manic Street Preachers and Hope Sandoval are playing here on the same night, same time. Neither has come to town in a decade, if not more, and who knows if either will be back. I'm not a big fan of either, but would love to see both. Part of the fun is seeing the Manic Street Preachers in a 900~ person capacity ballroom, when I know they usually play stadiums. I also really like the new Hope Sandoval album.

What I need is advice on how they are live - please tell me who the dud is!

neither would be a dud, but the manics would be the ~anthemic~ choice.

Is Nicky Wire still wearing that banana suit?

My friends were getting their work visas at the same time as the Manics yesterday. It was reconfirmed that the drummer is very short in person

Can they really get 900 people to see them in the States?

i wouldn't like to see neither of them. hope sandoval will surely be music to fall asleep to, the manics i heard in the early 90s at the lorelei outdoor festival. they were crap. generic indie stadium rock.

I'd go to see Hope over Manics any day. No idea whether she's still got any charisma, but she's bound to be more interesting than the friggin Manics. She's actually playing near me next month -- must consider it myself.

Manics - they're on fine form this tour.

The Manics are so good live at the moment. All of 'Journal For Plague Lovers' especially.

So this was mostly unhelpful but I should have listened to the last comment. I went to see Hope Sandoval, she left the stage after 3 1/2 songs, came back 30 min later to do just 2 more and then left for good, no explanation except for a "technical difficulties" line from the venue, yeah right. At least the Manics can put on a show. I mean if you don't want to go on stage, don't charge me $20 to get in, just stay home! don't play shows!

Well we did try to tell you.
