Woke on a Whaleheart counts because Hagerty produced it, and the production is fucking awesome.

considered putting Neil Hamburger on the list because I thought the two Neil H.'s might be one and the same, but that was 98/99 at the latest.

didn't see this until now! wish i'd heard more than like half the stuff up there, but out of what i know i guess i'll go w/Hex's XI

pretzel walrus, Monday, 21 September 2009 16:14 (fifteen years ago)

easy vote for transmaniacon

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 21 September 2009 16:17 (fifteen years ago)

^^^ disgusting savage.

gotta be 'Introducing The Howling Hex' for me, but a lot of the Hex records are sweet.

ha. i honestly haven't gotten into any of hagerty's post-royal trux music, i'd vote for all three rtx albums and woke on a whaleheart before voting for any of his bands. sorry.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 21 September 2009 16:27 (fifteen years ago)

I'm pretty much just the opposite.. can't really get into the RTX records.

ian, Monday, 21 September 2009 16:30 (fifteen years ago)

the first one is great but for some reason I'm not really interested in any others.

the Howling Hex albums are a wonderful mess, although the last one (Earth Junk) kinda lost me a bit

Hat Trick Swayze (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 21 September 2009 17:23 (fifteen years ago)

i will agree that the second and third rtx albums pale in comparison to transmaniacon

Neil Michael Hagerty & the Howling Hex - Neil Michael Hagerty & the Howling Hex

this is a great album and i voted for it

XI for me, too, although i love good old rock and roll and s/t and earth junk and much of the 1-2-3 EP's (listed twice btw). and yeah, i just dont love RTX.

i also love woke on a whaleheart, but giving NMH credit (for albeit truly sensitive (AKA totally minimal) production) is silly.

XI was the soundtrack of 2007 for me!

69, Monday, 21 September 2009 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

this is a good thread
calling neil's production on whaleheart minimal seems weird though - it sounds like a hex record, whether it's reverbed guitars o honeymoon child or the hex-vox on footprints.

voted 'you can't beat tomorrow' because it is the best, but on messier days could've gone all-night fox or some portion of the 1-2-3 stuff. another vote for hex over rtx.

sad there's no weird war love. "baby it's the best" is a great opening jam

Tramps, Traitors & Little Devils is super good
