I bought their album last year, and it's is pretty good-- I dare say EPIC... However, I found myself losing interest within a few weeks.

I live in Dallas and went to see 'em once. They had a sort of sundazed desert menace chanelled through early Verve style druggy guitar epics. It didn't hit me. Seemed schticky, with all the apocolyptic lyrics and the stage props. No sense of humor to make it all palatable. Funny how they get so much hype 'round the globe when there are easy 10 local bands I like much more. But that's nothing new.

they played here last night and i watched'em, they were the third best band of the evening though after the devics(marvelous!) and the always fantastic local czars. john grant's voice shoudl be a national treasure.

one month passes...
They may not be the best band in the land, but the offer musicianship of upmost quality, vocals with great sensetivity and power and a stream of conciousness, psych-country, apocalyptic which is so inventive it deserves to be listen to over and over again, its is the kind of album which is so good that you want to keep it for yourself through sheer selfishness

Aaron, I'd like to hear you name 10 bands that are better, please. Not an insult, but a challange -- I think they're great and I'd love to hear music that is better,
