A brand new album from Supersilent is always a special occasion, even more so with ”9” as this is their first recorded output since the departure of drummer Jarle Vespestad in late 2008. This spurred no less than 3 recording sessions and the four tracks that make up this album are all taken from a session at Henie Onstad art center just outside Oslo where all three members rigged themselves with Hammond organs and nothing more. The result is nothing short of spectacular and probably their most avant garde and otherworldly recording so far and once again shows a band never looking back and always pushing their limits. Needless to say, this comes highly recommended.

hell yes i'm anticipating. was pretty upset when Jarle left tbh, even if their sound had become close to perfected and i can see how there would be a need for "new challenges" or whatever (have no idea why he quit). i'd still like to hear them push it even further with that formation. that said, "all three members rigged themselves with Hammond organs and nothing more." sounds like utter madness and i'm looking forward to it

Yep. "Anticipating" doesn't quite cover it.

The link says the album will be released in May 2009. Any idea when it's being released/available digitally in the United States?

so far sounds like a tribute to bengt hambraeus. or 60s electronic music generally.

a definite nordheim influence on it.

Must get this. Although I haven't properly digested 8 yet.

first impression; this is excellent. very far from 8, there is less progression in the tracks here. 60s electronic music yes, much of it sounds like a sun ra jam on half speed.

Supersilent 9 is really creeping me out at the moment! 9.2 is great. I think I miss the drums a bit though.

Is this any good? What do we think is the best Supersilent or Supersilent-related record? What do you think of Arve's last record? I really liked that one.

6 is my favorite.

Listened to 6 and 8 last night, i dont think 9 is as good as either but is still fantastic. The trumpet work on 8.6+7 is some haunting shit and edges it into first place for me. Its my mission this weekend to get 10 and 11 as soon as possible.

Are these available as vinyl records?

Just recently got into Arve's solo stuff. It's almost uniformly excellent.
