MAYBE NEXT WE CAN VOTE ON THE SECOND BEST AND SECOND WORST SONGS ON EVERYTHING

thomp, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

i don't wanna vote in this poll

Mr. Que, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:03 (fifteen years ago)

i don't wanna vote in this poll .

Mr. Que, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:03 (fifteen years ago)

i don't wanna vote in this poll . .

Mr. Que, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

so why you wanna make me vote in this poll

Mr. Que, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

I can't remember Listen to My Heart, but I doubt it's bad.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:26 (fifteen years ago)

Our Alice took this to her leaving Nursery party...

Mark G, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

My kid loves this record too. There's a car in the pixar movie Cars named Ramone and I think he thinks he's in the band.

Brio, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

Listen to My Heart is great!

A Patch on Blazing Saddles (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 September 2009 14:41 (fifteen years ago)

i guess i'd say "loudmouth," just cuz it's sort of a lesser version of things done better elsewhere on the album. but it's not like i dislike it.

flying squid attack (tipsy mothra), Monday, 21 September 2009 14:45 (fifteen years ago)

lol Loudmouth is one of my favourite songs!

I think I'll vote for Havana Affair. Or Listen To My Heart. Everything before and after those songs rules.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 21 September 2009 14:56 (fifteen years ago)

Sorry, Colonel, "Loudmouth" is the only one I don't know by heart. I can barely remember it.

Garnet Memes (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 21 September 2009 14:58 (fifteen years ago)

Never loved "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," but I'm uncomfortable saying it's the "worst" anything.

Alex in NYC, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

The worst song on this is better than the best song on whatever you think is the best album ever.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

NICE!

Alex in NYC, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:17 (fifteen years ago)

And shits a splattery load on it from a great height.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:19 (fifteen years ago)

Picked the one they didn't write.

StanM, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:20 (fifteen years ago)

53rd or lets dance

Zeno, Monday, 21 September 2009 15:25 (fifteen years ago)

No worst songs on this album

Aw naw, no' Annoni oan an' aw noo (Tom D.), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 09:47 (fifteen years ago)

I don't remember what Chainsaw sounds like, and I remember EXACTLY what all the others sound like (including Loudmouth), so it's probably that one.

Soukesian, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 16:00 (fifteen years ago)

It goes:

"texas chainsaw massacree
took my baby away from me"

StanM, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 16:01 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Listen To My Heart, but Tom D may be right.

Brio, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

Looks that way.

In "Listen to My Heart" - the "That girl could still be mine" bit is awesome.

Aw naw, no' Annoni oan an' aw noo (Tom D.), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:18 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not voting cuz this album is perfect

Listen to My Heart is great

Hat Trick Swayze (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:32 (fifteen years ago)

also I feel bad that this "worst song" poll meme has taken hold, cuz it makes us look like a bunch of music-hating killjoys (even tho my OG Beach Boys worst of series was borne of complete and total adoration for their work)

Hat Trick Swayze (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

tru, but the Beatles' polls serve a purpose, i think (i.e., those records are so uniformly excellent that the very notion of attempting to single out the worst tracks can stimulate thought and discussion). still, not a good sign overall, imo.

all you need is love vs. money (that's what i want) (Ioannis), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

Calling this type of poll the worst kind of poll makes you look like poll-hating killjoys :-(

StanM, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

I think the ridiculousness of it is kind of the point though - picking the worst song on a perfect album. It's just for laughs. At least that was the intention. Maybe there should've been a "none of the above" option, but that lets you off the hook. Anyway, I don't think there's much music-hating killjoyishness going on here.

And I love Listen To My Heart. It's Sophie's Choice shit throwing that one under the bus.

Brio, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, that was my choice too. *sobs*

all you need is love vs. money (that's what i want) (Ioannis), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

the Beatles' polls serve a purpose, i think (i.e., those records are so uniformly excellent that the very notion of attempting to single out the worst tracks can stimulate thought and discussion)

I actually have no problem finding dud tracks on those Beatles albums - but this Ramones album is tough.

o. nate, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

"Let's Dance", cause I loved the roller-rink organ that was at the heart of the original, and it's mostly absent here. Really, the covers are pretty much my least favourite tracks on the first three Ramones albums.

Random trolling, brutal snubs, darted zings & decisive bans (Myonga Vön Bontee), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:25 (fifteen years ago)

^ agree muchly

StanM, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:29 (fifteen years ago)

I've said on multiple threads that this is pretty much the only perfect album ever made

Cank That (Soulgga Ban) (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

There's literally no worst song

Cank That (Soulgga Ban) (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

I think Listen to my Heart is the BEST song on this album. I might have to say Blitzkreig Bop only in that it's been overplayed to such an extent that I typically skip it when I put the album on.

filthy dylan, Tuesday, 22 September 2009 21:48 (fifteen years ago)

Every song on here is kind of essential. You can't remove one song from this album without taking away a little piece of its heart.

o. nate, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

How about which song off this album would bum you out the least if you heard it turning up on a Tony Hawk Videogame soundtrack (and possibly covered by Alien Ant Farm or Rancid)?

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 21:07 (fifteen years ago)

Chainsaw or I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement.

why cant he say basement properly?

Jamie_ATP, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

Because he don't wanna go!

Mark G, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 21:56 (fifteen years ago)

Voted "Listen To my Heart" on the "only one I can't remember" principle, but just listened to it and that song kicks ass. Oh well.

Poxy Fule Of Kryptonite (The Yellow Kid), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 22:26 (fifteen years ago)

let's dance.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 24 September 2009 03:29 (fifteen years ago)

I think I'm going to vote for "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" - though it's not a bad song by any means.

o. nate, Thursday, 24 September 2009 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe we should ask the modz to change the title to "the least good" instead of the worst?

StanM, Thursday, 24 September 2009 22:20 (fifteen years ago)

in this album's case I vote that be changed to the "least face-meltingly awesome song on this flawless album"

man, motherfuck a paddington bear (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 24 September 2009 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 4 October 2009 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

Much easier to decide which songs aren't the worst, than which one is the worst.

Mister Jim, Monday, 5 October 2009 06:20 (fifteen years ago)

^^^

I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement.

why cant he say basement properly?

WTF? is that a pisstake? It's one of the reasons why the song is so great

Anyhow- it's a struggle, but I'll go with Let's Dance

Fer Ark, Monday, 5 October 2009 07:51 (fifteen years ago)

I can't vote "Let's Dance", it's the live b-side to "Swallow my pride" and right after "Pinhead" !

Mark G, Monday, 5 October 2009 08:18 (fifteen years ago)

I'm actually really curious about the results of this, as meaningless and by-default the answer is gonna be. Kinda looks like it might be "Let's Dance" or "Listen To My Heart" judging from the comments.

Brio, Monday, 5 October 2009 15:09 (fifteen years ago)

suggest banning everyone who voted in this poll

Mr. Que, Monday, 5 October 2009 15:10 (fifteen years ago)

reading this thread is kinda like reading Art Brut lyrics

Brio, Monday, 5 October 2009 15:21 (fifteen years ago)

LOVE Let's Dance, easily one of my favorite songs on the album. It's Alive version slays though. 1st six and last three are impeccable, it's only that middle stretch that sags a little (a TINY little) bit: I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement through 53rd & 3rd. Went with Basement.

That's not just me saying that, that's the Pentagon. (contenderizer), Monday, 5 October 2009 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

this poll better get zero votes

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 5 October 2009 17:06 (fifteen years ago)

dude, with all due respect enough already. I'll never do a worst song poll again, you own that shit and only the beach boys are an appropriate subject for such a poll, all other worst song polls are heresy. ok?

Brio, Monday, 5 October 2009 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

sounds good to me

Mr. Que, Monday, 5 October 2009 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

Cool. It was just meant as an answer to all the Beatles ones, not as any attack on all that is holy and sacred. As somebody pointed out above, it's a lot harder to pick a worst song on this than on the early Beatles records - which I think is kind of interesting. Still not clear on why it makes you guys mad, but whatever.

Brio, Monday, 5 October 2009 17:56 (fifteen years ago)

Reason it's hard to pick out a worst song here is that there's only one song on the record. One song with 14 different titles. Upside is that it's a moderately good song.

That's not just me saying that, that's the Pentagon. (contenderizer), Monday, 5 October 2009 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

What? you crazy, there are at least 4 distinct Ramones songs! Will concede "7-11" and "don't go" are interchangeable but they aren't on here.

Philip Nunez, Monday, 5 October 2009 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

O come on, there's nothing disrespectful about this poll! Everybody knows that "worst" is relative, and a lot easier to type than "least awesome" or whatever. Anyone who votes has presumably played the album often enough (out of enjoyment) to know whereof they speak.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Suggest Banned (Myonga Vön Bontee), Monday, 5 October 2009 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

holy shit is listen to my heart really going to take this?

I can't remember Listen to My Heart, but I doubt it's bad.

― kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, September 21, 2009 10:26 AM (2 weeks ago)

everyone who voted for it had better be using this idiot lazy logic or they are not cool in my book.

samosa gibreel, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:26 (fifteen years ago)

If people really really hate the "worst song" thing, another way to look at it is what song could've been eliminated to make room for one of the unreleased songs from around the same time ("I Can't Be", "I Don't Wanna Be Tamed" and "Babysitter" - all of which I like more than "Loudmouth", "Havana Affair" and "Listen To My Heart"). If that's still drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa to you, more power to ya!

And disagreements over the poll aside, the Ramones love on display here definitely makes me smile. Cheers.

Brio, Monday, 5 October 2009 21:35 (fifteen years ago)

OK, WTF * 12?

Mark G, Monday, 5 October 2009 23:00 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Monday, 5 October 2009 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

hey!

I just xposted the "Results are now in" message!

Mark G, Monday, 5 October 2009 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

I guess my vote for Basement didn't register. ???

That's not just me saying that, that's the Pentagon. (contenderizer), Monday, 5 October 2009 23:28 (fifteen years ago)

Sort of offended, cuz 3 of the top 4 "worst" songs on this album are among my lifelong favorites.

That's not just me saying that, that's the Pentagon. (contenderizer), Monday, 5 October 2009 23:29 (fifteen years ago)

shit, i shouldn't have looked at the result. now i'm mad.

But I'm tired of the hurt
Tired of tryin'
I'm tired of the pain
Tired of tryin'
I'm tired of cryin'

That surely is one of the catchiest parts of the album! Well at least no one voted for Judy.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 5 October 2009 23:52 (fifteen years ago)
