the best hip hop songs are the ones that are like "ahh yeahh"

ok that's not true, but lately i have been having alot of trouble enjoying militant, agressive, grumpy and pessimistic, hip hop. i have loved alot of it for years and years and hopefully i will find myself in the mood for it at some point in the future, but these days it seems all i want from a hip hop song is for a rapper and producer to celebrate the glories of life, to look himself in the mirror and rub his chin and smile. i have a huge appetite for hip hop that basks in its own greatness, but can't i get braggadocio without being all "AND EVERY OTHER RAPPER ALIVE CAN SUCK MY DICK." is that too much to ask?

both great songs. my qualms are less with lyrics and more about tone, and to a lesser extent texture. something bright, possibly triumphant, highly confident. "whatever you like" is the golden ideal of this type of thing.
