The Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Santana, and Moby Grape, or the Byrds, the Beach Boys, Love, and the Doors?

Voted LA of course because I'm bored of SF's summer of love self-mythologizing.

However, SF has Blue Cheer which automatically gives them the atom bomb, however this is countered by Fowley and Hazlewood.

Second tier FITE is interesting: Fifty Foot Hose, Kak, and The Vejtables vs. Electric Prunes, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band.

Annoyed that LA comp leaves out The United States of America and St. John Green.

Rhino would have never been able to get it licensed, so I get why it is not there, but there probably should be a Mothers of Invention track on the LA compilation.

The Byrds, Electric Prunes, Kim Fowley, Kaleidescope - freaking Kaleidescope, man, that just clinched it.

...and the wizard blew his horn (Masonic Boom), Monday, 5 October 2009 16:40 (fifteen years ago)

I've been listening to the SF set all weekend and enjoying it, but so far it's still LA.

totally LA

GOVERNMENT TRASH QUEEN ON A THRONE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 5 October 2009 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

i haven't heard either of these sets (though I've heard a lot of the bands on them). Are they worth getting? I remember reading a really negative review of the San Fran one, I think. They look cool, anyway.
