Jacob Sanders, Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:02 (fifteen years ago)

can someone restart the poll then? tom d. maybe? but not too many bands, please. and only bands, no solo artists. 50 should be sufficient. and can an admin maybe lock this thread afterwards? sorry for the hassle, wikipedia wasn't very useful here.

alex in mainhattan, Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:02 (fifteen years ago)

Haha, that poll is all 'where the fuck is Meshuggah? where the fuck is Refused?'

Obscured by clowns (NickB), Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:15 (fifteen years ago)

Well, obviously!

The Prince's choice: making a brush. (Tom D.), Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:18 (fifteen years ago)

dude if you cant find more than a dozen swedish music acts maybe you should reconsider listening to or caring about music

fleetwood (max), Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:22 (fifteen years ago)

IKEA branches should only play Swedish music in-store and at night become Gothenbalearic discotopias

modescalator (blueski), Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

Ouch

Jacob Sanders, Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

Who are Play?

Obscured by clowns (NickB), Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

to be honest the only band i care about of all the ones i have heard of is the esbjörn svensson trio. swedish music is not for me, i guess.

O dammit, absent from this thread as well as that other thread (linked by modescalator) -- Kebnekajse, and The Flesh Quartet.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:57 (fifteen years ago)

Possibly the worst poll ever, and that's saying a lot.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 8 October 2009 15:58 (fifteen years ago)

If you are going to re-re-poll, don't forget to add Library Tapes.

emil.y, Thursday, 8 October 2009 16:07 (fifteen years ago)

Don't forget Razorlight.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 October 2009 16:11 (fifteen years ago)

This poll is fine imo because

a) 40 option polls are fucking stupid

and

b) I was gonna vote TSoOL anyway so it's all good

psychgawsple, Thursday, 8 October 2009 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

ABBA is the obvious answer but yeah a lot of very good bands aren't there. I would add "The Legends" and "Pay TV" to the list of nominees.

one boob is free with one (daavid), Thursday, 8 October 2009 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

maybe the poll should be named best swedish band excluding abba. i am still mazed how poor the quality of swedish bands is. finland had an indie classic, 22 pistepirkko. norway had belcanto and kings of convenience,. sweden had a lot of crappy chart toppers but nothing really worthwhile.

alex in mainhattan, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

amazed

alex in mainhattan, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

Jacob Sanders, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

as well as other genres besides Bands.

Jacob Sanders, Thursday, 8 October 2009 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

Why exactly did you create a poll about swedish music, which you don't seem to like and know very little about? I'm not trying to be rude in asking, it just seems like an apparent question.

Tages, The Flower Kings, Gyllene Tider, Freestyle, Merrymakers, Adolphsson & Falk, Trampolines and Brainpool are/were all better than any of these.
But voted Soundtrack Of Our Lives because they are indeed quite good.

Nomads

steampig67, Thursday, 8 October 2009 22:12 (fifteen years ago)

Kind of lacking on the punk side of things. (And you could make an argument that Sweden had as good a punk scene as any non-English-speaking country.)

Ebba Grön - early singles and the We're Only in it for the Drugs LP. The Swedish Clash.
Asta Kask - as catchy a pop punk/pop-core band as there ever was.
Kriminella Gitarrer
Kai Martin and Stick!
Mob 47
Bugs
Rude Kids

and hundreds of others found on comps like GBG Punk, Svenska Punkklassiker, and Vägra Raggarna Benzin

Michael Train, Thursday, 8 October 2009 22:44 (fifteen years ago)

Why exactly did you create a poll about swedish music, which you don't seem to like and know very little about?

there was this leather nun thread which gave me the idea. it wasn't a brilliant idea and i didn't do a proper research before, you are right.

alex in mainhattan, Friday, 9 October 2009 07:23 (fifteen years ago)

why, thank you. that would be lovely.
