Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has said the band has definitively ended.

Speaking out for the first time since brother Noel quit in August, Gallagher said: "It's a shame, but we had a good run at it."

"We ended Oasis. No-one ended it for us, which is kind of cool," he said in the interview with The Times.

what does he thinks happens to other bands? like did he expect the UN to lay down a security council resolution threatening sanctions unless the UK dismantled their plod rock arsenals?

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
See, the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me ?
Sad veiled bride, please be happy
Handsome groom, give her room
Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly
(Though she needs you, More than she loves you)
And I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over and over and over

Requiem from a Better Band.

I was just reading the paper copy. He's modelling some horrible clothes there - they're the sort of thing Paul Weller would wear, which will surprise nobody.

Oh god I can't believe oasis will never ever play together again and I can't bear the thought that in 2 to 3 years time I won't be able to read an interview with one/both of the Gallallallagher brothers telling us how they didn't feel right doing their own thing and they had to get the band together again and now their new material is better than ever and maybe we could have another thread about this and any other oasis press releases in the intervening non-period.

Yeah, I liked it when Noel said some other band was "shit".

Here's hoping they now retire to Dakota for a decade of silence.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 October 2009 16:09 (fifteen years ago)

maybe they will release remasters of all their albums !

Their final gig (at Weston Park V Festival) was an utterly miserable experience, unless you were heavily tanked up and treating it as a community singing exercise (which thousands were). I stuck it out until they started murdering "Live Forever".

mike t-diva, Thursday, 8 October 2009 16:14 (fifteen years ago)

unless you were heavily tanked up and treating it as a community singing exercise

i get the impression that this is pretty much what oasis gigs were about, during the last, like, 12 years or so.

Guys, you're missing the bigger picture. If this is final act, then this is also the final Mark G Oasis thread! A moment of silence is I think called for.

So now Noel goes and makes "McCartney" and Liam makes "Plastic Ono Band"?

I thought it was Noel who ended it.

Well, looking forward to Noel's next outing. May be the best thing he's done since "Morning Glory", now that he doesn't need to care about the views of his idiot sibling anymore.

I read somewhere that Ride were reforming for the Creation records gig at the Roundhouse, but this is a fairly categorical denial.
