i don't know there's just something about walking out into the world with a freshly cut, geometrically sound rug on top of your head that begs for an equally clear, purposeful and forward-looking soundtrack.

What songs make you feel sharp and in control, to augment that feeling of a fresh haircut? I say Songs for Swinging Lovers, Birth of the Cool, Siren, maybe some Duran Duran.

Forget the haircut, let your freak flag fly.

ha, i was pretty sure somebody must've posted something like that! so i don't need to, any more.

"almost cut my hair" by crosby, stills, nash & young -- in case you wanna feel weird and creepy after teh cut ;)

t**t, Thursday, 15 October 2009 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not being particularly original, because when I was at school, whenever someone got a haircut, everyone else would point and shout "Haircut 100!"

uh dudes the point of this thread was not songs that mention hair or getting your hair cut, but songs you actually would want to... ah fuck it.

samosa gibreel, Friday, 16 October 2009 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

OK then..

"Look at me" Geri Halliwell.

Oh, I understand what you were looking for now. Not actual haircut songs, but something more evocative of the haircut experience as a whole. For me, it's the entire Ian Hunter album, Short Back and Sides.

kornrulez6969, Friday, 16 October 2009 07:26 (fifteen years ago)

Hahaha -- great thread idea!

I'd probably go for some bouncy guitar pop -- something like New Pornographers, "The Jessica Numbers".

yeah bouncy guitar pop was what i chose, too. it was really, really fitting.

samosa gibreel, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

In spirit of the thread, probably something by either Prince or LL Cool J.

But really, come on: The Happy Flowers 'Charly Got A Haircut'

Think I'll pack it in
and get a hair cut
Take it down to L.A.
Find a place to call my own
and get a hair cut
Start a brand new day.
