I think the song has vocals but an instrumental chorus. Very triumphant/dramatic sounding lead that goes ba BAH BAH Baba badabah/ bah BAH BAH Bada bahhhhh/ Ba BAH BAH bada baaaahaaa/ ba BAH Bah Bada BAdada etc.

If you're talking about "Baker Street," it's from 1978.

also: it's from 1978.The 80s revival was really from 77-86 and the 90s revival will be from 87 on

it's pretty funny how much the sax overshadows the rest of the song, and how forgettable most of the vocals

are
No way, it's a great world-weary hangover-after-the-hangover vocal.

Vocals are great, and it's got a great guitar solo as well.
an instrumental chorus <-- gave it dead away as "Baker Street"

This song reminds me so much of 1978 (I was 8) that its almost eerie. It really brings me back in time, almost literally.

That's why ILM is the coolest. That would be a cool thread game, guess the sax riff.

Does that mean you can see the opening in the space-time continuum but it's too small to squeeze through?

Yes, anybody you want me to say hi too?

Dan, now you need to post to this thread: So THAT'S who it was! For those times when you heard a song when you were young, and only found out who it was, like DECADES later!

Seems lots of people don't know the song's name. tbh, the only reason I learned it when I did is because I bought the soundtrack from Good Will Hunting (lol cds) to get "Miss Misery" and "Baker Street" was on there too.

I seem to recall that back when that record came out they would play it all the time on the radio and then after it was over a man would come on the radio and say "That was Gerry Rafferty and 'Baker Street'." Sometimes they would tell you that Gerry used to be in a group called Stealers Wheel that had a hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You." Only this year I learned that the Stealers Wheel record was produced by Leiber and Stoller.
