Weirdly hard to think of any good ones at all; the best I could do after an hour's thought was The Greatest / Living Proof / Lived In Bars, and even that is really just one amazing video sandwiched between two vaguely interesting ones. Can anyone do better?

ZZ Top: Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, Legs. In terms of taking an aesthetic and premise and running with it, that 1-2-3 punch was pretty great in the '80s.

I thought Michael Jackson would pull this off, but scanning his videography and seeing some stinkers or videos I don't even remember that throw off the good runs.

I would have said something along the lines of Peter Gabriel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Gabriel_discography#Music_videos) - 'cause those 'So' videos were a-mazing. But it looks like some ho-hum songs/videos are interspersed between the amazing ones. Oh, and who knew that Sean Penn directed 'the Barry Williams Show' video?

best of this decade is easy - xtina. pick any 3 of the "dirrty", "beautiful", "fighter", "can't hold us down", "the voice within" run - though of course they work even better in the context of the others as one 5-single package
can't be bothered to look up, but surely missy?

Yeah, Missy, or Busta in the late 90s - those Hype Williams videos were great treats.
Also in the 90s hip-hop PURE SPECTACLE camp there is obviously PUFFY but I'm not sure what the three-in-a-row would be.
