i said something about idm the other night, and a friend who pays very little attention to music asked me what the hell idm is. so, instead of going into a long, convoluted discourse on the genre, i just said "it's dance music that you can't dance to." and so i'm wondering about how others might describe idm or emo or prog or any other genre "in a nutshell" like that. . .
