i think that the music he was putting out from late 05-07 is some of the best rap of the decade, but since then on he's varied somewhere between rekindling the flame and outright garbage, mostly closer to the latter. he's basically unlistenable as it stands.

i mean idk. my post about his headspace was just super wishful thinking. the guy is stubborn & arrogant and doesn't really take much input from even those close to him when it comes to his music. he dove headfirst into this rock thing even though 100% of the world could see how bad of an idea it was right from the very instant. and it's not like going to jail really helped t.i.'s music, at least not the quality of it. if wayne turned into a newfound preachy moralist like t.i. i would be pretty sad.

Some of his mixtapes are available on eMusic. Couldn't get into them, for some reason.

mixtapes in the internet era are always a risky proposition, you just have to know which ones are official

wayne hasn't put out an official one in a while iirc - gucci has put out a bunch but if you get fake internet dj ones they are a chore

i can't think of a recent official gucci mixtape that wouldn't give you a really good idea of who he is - wayne was the same way for a while

thank you forksclovetofu - when ppl are like "aww, jail, what's the big" I think "you, my friend, are a person who's never spent a night in jail." no matter how hard a pose anybody strikes about how going up for a year is no big deal or whatever, the actual fact is pretty much everybody hates being locked up. you know who hates jail a whole whole lot? rich people. it sucks to have all your choices taken away. it sucks more when you're accustomed to a wealth of choices.

like, i said he needs a break from music, which i believe, and which jail will provide. otherwise, i don't have much sympathy for lil wayne for being a rapper carrying a gun in fucking new york city of all places.
