This thread is even harder, but there are more acts I'm ambivalent about too.

It's some kind of testament to Van der Graaf Generator that they managed a Great Five Year Run during which they were split up for 3 years.

Bowie v. Priest v. Ramones v. Thin Lizzy v. AC/DC. The last two I'm axing for not being the five years I would pick for either; Priest is so close, but it has to be Ramones v. Bowie. Bowie.

Genesis ftw.

(Except 1970-74 would have made more sense because Genesis didn't make any music in 1975)

Surely Joni Mitchell wasn't the only woman to have a classic 5 year run during this period? I think Roberta Flack 1969-73 would've been a strong contender.

joni mitchell must surely be 1971-76, no? otherwise "blue" would be missing and the live "miles of aisles" would be included!

and what about neil young 1970-74? he released only 4 albums in that period. from "after the goldrush" to "on the beach". can we redo this poll with the albums explicitly mentioned in brackets like in the hongro pooll? otherwise people really don't know what they are voting for. i am hesitating between joni, neil and brian (eno).

My mistake re: Joni, I was thinking Blue was 1972. Pretend Blue is in there. Isn't it true that Young recorded Tonight's the Night before On The Beach, even though it was released after?

Totally disagree with 70-74 being Popol Vuh's best five year run, I'd probably say 1977-81, or thereabouts

Also don't agree with Can 1971-75

I was late in getting into the later Popol Vuh, and you're probably right. Maybe will add that option to Part IV. What era of Can is preferred? 71-75 covers my favorites, as much as I like Monster Movie, Soundtracks, Flow Motion, Saw Delight. I guess it comes down to Landed vs. Soundtracks, which is tough. Soon Over Babaluma is sometimes my favorite. I thought of putting ELO 73-77 in there, but with the competition, eh.
