Just saw this listed. It looks too good to be true. Are all these performances full versions. Have been dying to see some of the impressions stuff for years. Such a great group. Also big influence on Jamaica.

Apparently no one has seen this. I find it strange that no one seems to care two hoots about Curtis- as much as say Marvin Gaye or even Barry White. Yuck to him (Barry White I mean)

Well, maybe if it's only just listed, it's too soon for anyone to have seen it.

Its been around a while I think. Anyhow thats ok I'll just get it and find out for myself. I think these are full versions of these songs so can't go wrong.

I love Curtis, but I have no video or television, so I'm not buying any DVDs. You can care about artists without caring about their DVDs.

True enough. That was not what I was implying. Just a general comment about his place in the canon or whatever. Seems like he's a little forgotten/ underrated etc... Maybe its just me.

Don't know about the rest of the world, but ILM has only one thread devoted to Barry White's music (besides a couple of RIP threads and some joke threads), but Curtis has six threads (including this one).

Don't know about the canon (though it definitely bugged me at the time that Chicago didn't shut down streets for a memorial parade when Curtis died the way Detroit did for Marvin) but Curtis is easily in my little pantheon of towering superhuman music icons.

Great to hear. 'The pantheon of towering superhuman icons' is hard to get into I hear.
Tuomas. O.K Maybe it is the rest of the world. Also number of posts doesn't nec. cut it. You would have to look at number of posts. One thread could suck up a lot of talk.
Sometimes I do forget there are such charming, gentle and astute musical minds as on this good board. Still I do find it surprising that no one has seen this thing and is willing to pass some kind of comment.

OK i saw some of this recently. Good bits are the songs obviously and then some of the Impressions talking about how they wrote individual songs. I didn't realise Curtis started out as just the guitar player in the band and then gradually took over writing more and more songs. Not so good bits are that quite a few of the performances are lip synched- and does Carlos Santana have to turn up and give his two pence worth? There are still some amazing live performances that are not lip synched. Would have liked some kind of critic or academic giving comment. Still definitely worth seeing though- don't get me wrong- much more good than bad.
