slow bootleg mashups?

Take a listen to this MP3: http://zebox.com/nothingseemstofit/

I'm looking for more along the same lines; bootlegs which are SLOW or atmospheric as opposed to the usual cacophonious and metronomic stuff. You can be fairly loose with what a bootleg means... just anything appropriation or sample based.

thanks

There's the L'il Mo/Oasis "Wonderwoman" bootleg, I can't remember the name of the DJ, though.

The Celine Dion/Sigur Ros bootleg fits in here as well, as well as Freelance Hairdresser's "A Diff'rent Stroke of Genieus".

'i wanna dance with numbers' - whitney/kraftwerk (one of the originals, and still one of the best)

'soft/rock' - soft rock (lemon jelly) a-side is a mash of chicago's 'if you leave me now' and a 'thought for the day' type sermon from somewhere or other. ace it is.

piscesboy stole my soft rock answer. also try:

DJ Riko - Come Together (beatles vs. supremes) - two versions of the same song combined to create this extra wigged-out, super- psychedelic, eerily echoey song.

Riko also did a radiohead/epmd/mogwai mashup which definitely fits your criteria.

captain bullant - the next thing (dr. dre vs. st. germain) - a very laid back track. it even uses the clean version of 'the next episode's' lyrics to keep that chilled out vibe.

bullant was also responsible for 'without miss modular' (eminem + stereolab)... which probably isn't quite as slow/relaxed as you're after but it's still far less metronomic than the original 'without me' (what isn't?).

whoa ! that 'come together' sounds ace. why aren't there more like that, 2 covers of the same tune mashed. a first !

piscesboy, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hehe, it is ace. and how appropriate is the name!

anyway, i uploaded (and am still uploading) the tracks i mentioned, plus piscesboy's picks cos i had them onhand and they're great, up to a myplay account.

to download them, or just have a listen using the streaming function, go to www.myplay.com, sign in using my email address (girl_thursday@hotmail.com) and the password ilovemusic

and if you want to upload some other tracks for sharing, you're all most welcome.

thought we were all using kazaa now, or is that, like way old school. what's myplay ? is soulseek still a go-er ?

piscesboy, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hmm.... something weird just happened to the account, so just for now please don't sign in... i'll let you know when it's ok again.

Has Film Music Come To This - The Streets vs. Electrelane. Very good.

myplay is somewhere you can store your files online and listen to them from any other computer... you get 3 gigabytes. soulseek is still good, i'm using it... i just wasn't sure you'd be able to find those dj riko tracks on soulseek or kazaa and i wanted to try out this myplay thing. it seems to be acting up though, so probably not the best option. it's not really designed for multiple users.

minna, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok... i've uploaded all the tracks now... go for your life downloading them!

there was a strange case of disappearing file that i haven't worked out though. did anyone download one of the captain bullant files between my first post about myplay and now? i'm not sure whether it disappears from the locker once you've downloaded it - i don't think it should... but if it does happen to disappear, please upload it again for your fellow ilm'ers :)

minna, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Minna, I've added the mp3 above to your myplay folder.

Magnus Dumell, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

minna i think myplay's closed your account?
