I think it was more a budgetary thing. You should watch that DVD and listen to the commentary with Chuck D and Rob Bowman.

Bowman tells Chuck that their manager was a Svengali who controlled pretty much everything about their presentation and Chuck asks him "Even Larry's hair?"

saw this in the theater when the DVD came out, never seen the extras. I think my bass player has it I should borrow it from him...

Actually I can't remember what I'm talking about. They wouldn't have a commentary track on the history thing so it must be the concert movie.

I am also partial to the totally epic version of Ain't No Sunshine (which, I assume for time reasons, is not included in the film). I guess by some measures its unnecessarily excessive but its just so masterfully done from start to finish and completely reworks the tune, just builds and builds... Better than "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" by a long ways.

Aren't The Dramatics in this doing "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get," or is that under a credit crawl or soething, or am I misremembering? Love that song!

this poll is strictly "Volume 1" of the sdtrk. There's a volume 2 with a bunch of other stuff from the same show but its a pretty inferior selection iirc. Dunno where the Dramatics figure in

those are both on Vol 2 ("Jody's" good - one of the few tracks I can recall from that)

if it were just for the best song I'd vote for "I'll Take You There" but as best song at this performance it's "Do The Funky Chicken"
