It is a tough battle between "The Whole World" and "September."

There was a time when I was head over heels for "True Faith," but I think I've over-listened to it. I should probably still vote for it anyway.

All That Money Wants, by a wide wide margin. It's my favorite thing they ever did.

I'm not particularly a New Order kind of guy, but "True Faith" gets my vote.

Now the grousing: The correct Cure song for this list would be "Never Enough."

Most of these are Good Songs, worthy additions to the artists' canon, but I voted for "Say It Isn't So" cuz it's SO fun to sing karaoke.

I think a few of these were singles released within the months before a comp was released, and not specifically recorded for the comp.. like "True Faith" or "Justify My Love.." "Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" would also be one of these.

I love Window In the Skies by U2. That is a doozy.

"True Faith", which frustrated me as a young rockist avoiding compilations---"which album is it really on?" (this was long before the internet).

Of songs unlikely to warrant much mention on this thread, I like "Piccadilly Palare" a lot: it leads off my favorite Morrissey album (I didn't realize it was a comp when I got it in 1990; man, those were different times) and its strut anticipates Your Arsenal, though without its snarl. Also it's like one long chorus, and it's fun to sing b/c it sounds like gibberish and so it's easy to sub in other nonsense when you forget the lyrics.

Bona Drag is my favorite Moz "album" too.

Went for Kate Bush "Experiment IV." It may just be my favorite recording of hers. Weird and nerve-wracking it always gives me anxiety. Good song for mix tapes and sounds amazing in headphones. Plus you've got these two ridiculous and great videos:

"September": one of the best 5 songs ever released by EWF, and nothing beat EWF on top if its game. "True Faith" is ok, but I think the guitars and synths on it sound kinda lame and watered-down, like a mediocre Pet Shop Boys imitation.

I love a lot of these 80s classic but is nobody going to represent for "Justify My Love"? Because that song is a monster imo

but looking again at the list I see EWF's "September" which -- I mean, yeah, we all love New Order to pieces and all & yeah "True Faith" is an all-time jam for sure but "September" is an all-time all-time forever-and-always jam and just plain better.

I may be relieving myself of the cumbersome burden of credibility by confessing this, but I've also always loved "Adult Eduction" by Messrs. Hall et. Oates. But still -- not even Earth, Wind, Fire, Hall & Oates or a mighty combination of all these elements at once can trump "True Faith."

"Adult Education" only suffers if you remember its video and in comparison with "Say It Isn't So."

I had a discussion about this a few weeks ago, saying how most greatest hits bonus tracks were crap (based on hearing the new Madonna one), obviously forgetting a lot on this list, esp September. As exceptions we came up with True Faith, Justify My Love and St Etienne's He's on the Phone.

for me "All That Money Wants" was one of many late-Furs numbers where I thought: fuck yes! they're good again! I've been waiting for this! it was really only fully true for "Book of Days" though I think.

I might have voted for PSB's "Flamboyant" had it made the list (and had I seen the poll). Probably my favorite song of theirs from the past decade. Out of this list though, I would have thrown another point to EWF.

Yeah this song has never failed to get everyone out on the floor at any wedding I've been to. Went to my friend's wedding back in September, and I smiled a little when I realized "hey, we're dancing in September". But when I remembered that day was the 21st night of September, I went nuts and pointed it out to everyone like a grinning idiot.
