"Well we asked Orgy who wrote that one song for them and they looked at us funny."

Can't wait for the rock block with both said songs AND Frente's cover too.

yeah it's interesting that new order songs seem to lend themselves to particularly terrible covers. why them?

feel free to make this the rolling "horrible shit i just heard out of nowhere" thread, btw

i'd always avoided that cover, but i'm actually not minding it. his lil rock shrieks are totally contrived, but they kind of work.

Boo Radleys - "Boo Faith"

It is a fine cover. So, no.

No youtube version available.

Mark G, Monday, 14 December 2009 09:45 (fifteen years ago)

I've often wondered why it is that new order covers are so particularly bad. i don't even like boo faith and i generally like early boo radleys

i can't help thinking that it's because the wonderfulness of new order songs owe so much not to the songwriting but to the general arrangement and new order-ness of them. the lyrics are especially bad, the delivery is appalling and yet somehow the arrangement, the contrast between the pristine robotic electronics and the general loveable indie shitness of their playing makes so much more than the sum of its parts. the magic of new order is that it's *them* playing it, and the way in which they play, rather than what they are playing. which is odd for such a "faceless" non-personality driven band

I heard a pretty awesome cover of "Every Little Counts" by a group called Dominions

I agree. Don't cover New Order ever again. Please.
