Parliament/Funkadelic would also have to be on the ILM Mount Rushmore. Everybody likes, or at least respect them massively.

Most divisive is easy: Mariah Carey.

Check the threads...there are some pretty big fans of her on ILM, to put it mildly. There's also another equally passionate faction who think she sucks ass.

It's surely not The Beatles although it should have been IMO. I think most people here respect The Beatles to some extent, as in like some of their output, but those who (in spite of that) consider them overrated are probably in majority here. They may be one of the greatest white guys with guitars bands ever, but they were white guys with guitars, and some people just can't get over that here.

but the one act who gets voted out last is not necessarily the one which is most loved. it's just the one people find less annoying.

If we'd poll all acts with 5 or more love votes we would almost poll all suggested acts (except Run DMC, Massive Attack, Yo La Tengo, Herbie Hancock, Roots, Madlib, ELO and Abba!). The whole thing seems rather pointless as the usual suspects will win anyway.

Wasn't there an old thread (2002-3, maybe) where we discovered that XTC were the only band that were hated by virtually nobody on ILM? That's not the same as LOVE LOVE LOVE, but a high degree of "not hate" (i.e. having a very high approval rating) also counts for something ...

i don't hate xtc but i don't like them neither. which may prove your theory. actually my problem with xtc is that i do not get them most of the times.

XTC has got a major boost since then thanks to beloved ILX sockpuppet "gangsta andy partridge".

I'd be surprised if a few people didn't hate XTCon ILM, but I'm not sure enough people actually care either way for them to win any such contest
