Is DS better solo with all the tasty collaborators, or were Japan and Rain Tree Crow the dogs bollocks. wHAT IS THE BEST ALBUM BY HIM/THEM ?

I love 'Gentlemen take Polaroids' and 'Brilliant Trees'. 'Blackwater' WAS MY FAVOURITE Song OF THE '90S.

Japan was fun, but it didn't date particularly well but in a lot of ways Brilliant Trees hasn't aged well, either. Does that detract from their greatness? No. On the other hand, it's still hard to argue with the back-to-back wham-bam of Gone to Earth and Secrets of the Beehive. I'm going to say Sylvian.

Taking sides? On equal wonderfulness? You speak in riddles.

I'd vote for the truly sublime RAIN TREE CROW album over all, if not for "Black Crow Hits Shoe Shine City."

It's odd, the Sylvian related song I've been listening to the most lately is the totally cheese 'Sometimes I Feel So Low'. The guitar coming in on only one channel is brilliant.
