TS: The True Wheel -vs- Third Uncle

Or whatever. Those two stand out to me as the best of Tiger Mountain - which I'm rediscovering as one of the finest records ever made. Although I want to throw the PawPaw Negro Blowtorch in there for debate too... So maybe this isn't taking sides so much as deifying Eno (again..)

Dead finks, talk.

Nerve Net is woefully underrated, except seemingly by hacks at BBC TV Productions.

Amen on Nerve Net. And I opt for True Wheel--it's just so epic. Fun fact: One of the main guitar parts is recorded out of phase, so if you have stereo equipment old enough to have a "mono" button and push it while the song is playing, a whole big chunk of the song just disappears.

I actually prefer the beginning of the album (Back in Judy's Jungle, Burning Airlines..., and especially Fat Lady of Limbourg), in addition to Put a Straw Under Baby, to the above-mentioned songs. I think I'm just a more pop/melody-oriented person, and these stick out as being catchier than Third Uncle and the True Wheel to me. I of course love PawPaw Negro Blowtorch as well. Who knows what the solo is on that? Guitar synth?

The True Wheel. This song has always amazed me... Tiger Mountain is usually underrated compared w/Warm Jets, which is also pretty amazing. Doesn't True Wheel have Phil Collins on drums? His performances on various Eno Lps have led to me standing up for him a few times (yeah, his albums are evil, but he's a good drummer).

Not sure about Collins, but I think Robert Wyatt's in there somewhere.

Genius Brian Eno tracks:
Blank Frank
Dead Finks Don't Talk
Cindy Tells Me
Needle In The Camel's Eye
Burning Airlines Give You So Much More
China My China (THE BEST!)
Back In Judy's Jungle
ALL OF BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE!!!!!! Sky Saw
St Elmo's Fire

I think everyone in those smelly indie bands that are the next big thing should be forced to listen to Before and After Science, or else I don't think there's much hope left for (indie) music anymore

I'd have to vote "Third Uncle," but then again I'm biased, having heard a Certain Cover Version that Goths would be familiar with before the original and really liking that too.

I vote for "Tiger Mountain" over "Science" although like both. In my teen years I played "Tiger Mountain" more than almost every other record that wasn't recorded by David Bowie.

I think Phil Collins played drums on "Science". Yes, he's real good.

Oddly enough, though I vastly prefer Eno's "rock" stuff (Here Come Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain) to his ambient stuff, I like the quieter second half of Before and After Science to the rock first half. The rock songs seem kind of forced and annoying.
