I miss the "What will your daddy do if he sees your momma kissing Santa Claus" line. That one is the best part of the entire song (musically, not lyrically).

i'm amazed how many people i know think this is the worst christmas song. when you put it next to say mistletoe + wine or driving home for christmas that's just ridiculous imo

thomp, Thursday, 24 December 2009 00:04 (sixteen years ago)

bah humbug!

Dr X O'Skeleton, Thursday, 24 December 2009 09:55 (sixteen years ago)

Compared to the alternatives it is certainly one of the least detestable.

I like "Driving Home For Christmas". But "Mistletoe & Wine" is horrible.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Thursday, 24 December 2009 11:20 (sixteen years ago)

fifteen years pass...

No. 30 UK hit in 1998 - even by the standards of mainstream dance remixes of old songs this one comes across as very surreal. Basically just an instrumental simplistic house tune without much going for it, very meek and introverted, except every now and then the Slade chorus is crudely pasted in and half-buried. Two members of Slade's fan club in Sweden made it, it somehow made its way back to Polydor and out it came as 'Slade vs Flush' in a fairly anonymous sleeve.
